The statement we’ve all been waiting for

DJ - “The reasons for not building a new ground will stand for years to come, what breaks that cycle?” Spot on: the Board could go on with these evasive statements indefinitely; meanwhile the fan base stagnates.

The Board seems to have sealed itself off from the public, while the club’s executives have lost the power of speech. The goings-on at clubs like Spurs and Arsenal look transparent compared to AFCB. Like others, I fear that sooner or later our management team will decide they’ve had enough.

I will be interested to hear what Eddie has to say in his pre match press conference today. It's easy for Al to say that it's all the fault of Liz or Neill or Jeff etc, we don't know to what extent Howe was or was not involved in the decision making. Perhaps his comments today will give us a clue. I do however suspect it goes against his wishes, and as said, I suspect it'll mean he ends up looking at other opportunities that inevitably will arise.
Well in May it seems he thought infrastructure was very important, something has changed in the few months since, and yes I know we had players come in since then

It wouldn't if we went back to league 1 and were only averaging 6k per game anyway, probably wouldn't add much atall to the net worth as it would just be a asset that could never be resold with high maintenance costs.
Would cost a lot more than 40 million aswell, Brightons cost 90 million 10 years ago.

But have we attracted fans that would now want to watch us even if it was in a lower division because they have been unable to and because we have been in the premier league?

It would be interesting to see Blackpool’s before and after attendances.

Blackpool isn’t a fair comparison with any one.

The whole conurbation will be expanding toward 500,000 over coming years - even South Dorset (Weymouth-Portland-Dorchester) will grow to 150,000. Is our club to be stuck indefinitely in the present DC with a small, aging fan base??

Potential definitely there. Most recent data I have puts BH postcodes at 552k and DT at 212k, so potential fanbase is definitely there, let alone all the exiles

No new training ground = No Eddie Howe IMO

He might have a nice comfortable personal life but he’s an ambitious individual and I can’t see him hanging around too long if nothing happens to improve this element.

Stadium can wait I guess but I’m still keen to hear from the board about their plans on achieving one at some point.

Stacks of good ideas and common sense coming from Neil and others....but the simple fact remains.."You are a lauging stock playing ' Space-age brilliant to watch football , in the top ten of the PL in front of 11,00 ish fans".....those words came from a Newcastle fan. The Watford Websites putting out less polite versions of that.
A remote chance that a bad luck spell of Injuries to 2 or 3 key players in Oct/Nov/December could see us scrapping to stay up! Howe do we view it then? The legacy won't have happened , Eddie moves on....and the slide to Division 5 begins...I just know it.
A larger Stadium would have underpinned a future... for future Managers,Players and Fans! This could be a Tragedy (in Football terms).

Having had chance to contemplate that pathetic statement from the club, with no start dates for the training facility, no plan to increase capacity, no predicted start dates for the stadium, if there is in fact going to be one, which they said there would be, this is a totally inadequate response!
Who’s running this show, if there’s good news to announce, then Jeff's your man? We’ve got a good enough team to stay in the premier league for at least the next 3 seasons, even if we had to sell a player a year. I know it is a private company but haven’t they got a moral duty to all the ticketless desperate fans, after all it is supposed to serve the community.
I just think that sums up the contempt they have for all supporters. I and my family have got season tickets, so were alright but for others that want to see our football team live?
I would urge Max (thanks for all you’ve done for us in the past, although you got extremely lucky manager wise) and our American owners to think of the potential legacy your leaving here, this premer league money could set us up for the next 50 years or so. I would urge you to get your priorities right or try to sell, as Eddie Mitchell reluctantly had to do for the long term good of our club. How could you spend 25m on a player and not have adaquate training facilities for the league were in, at considerably less than ½ that price?
This is really frustrating news for all progressive thinking fans, we are a truly a embarrassingly tinpot club! Is all we want is what every other team in the premier league have, with decent training facilities and an adequate sized stadium ….Grrrr!

the people that will have had ZERO impact on this decision areLiz Finney, Neil Blake and Jeff Mostyn. EH will bounce any questions at his press conference.

Just listened to Eddie’s interview with Kris and contrary to what some have said, I don’t think Eddie is going anywhere soon.

He believes he can still take this club and players forward.

Yeah I think we all know that but his counterparts off the pitch?

They will ultimately decide Eddie’s fate I fear and they are not proving to be very competent at much lately.

And then I went and spoiled it all by saying something stupid...

:slap:....a Merger with Southampton ?......red n black n white stripes..no?....... Ok....NO! :utc:

A lot of sense has been said on this, as well as some anger, which is to be expected. Obviously not a huge fan of the gloating, but hey it happens. To take a leaf from Brent Goulet, in reality all the statement actually said was "you know what, you were right 2020 was ridiculous, sorry guys". Which sucks but is something we all expected and suspected. What I'm not happy about is the way the club have worded it, money is for either the team or the stadium, not both. That isn't correct, in fact name me a club is recent years that have paid for their stadium from internal funds, I can't think of one, even Wembley wasn't paid for by the FA. There are other ways to get funding, also I see no reason why not to approach the council to a certain extent. After all a 25000 cap stadium would technically bring 2500 visitors to town every other week in the off season, that's got to be worth a helluva lot to the local economy

If we accept the sums don't add up for a private investor to make sufficient return on the stadium project, then agree the emphasis should be on creating a facility to benefit the community as a whole instead of generate a profit.

Weren't the council considering spending £70m on a hotel by the BIC? All bias aside, surely something in Kings Park which benefits the entire conurbation is a better option. Unfortunately we probably have one of the least likely councils in the entire country to help provide funding support for a new stadium

Might be worth listening to the interview if you haven’t already.

Eddie respects the boards decision, also his comments about always had a good relationship with those above him and still has is important.

You get a lot of knee jerk reactions when things like the statement happen, but I like to wait and hear what Eddie has to say before making a decision on what Eddie’s future with our club will be.

From what I heard this morning he his still happy here and is going to stay. Others may have different views once they have listened to the interview.

Kris asked Eddie some straight forward questions and Eddie as usual gave him a honest answer.

We used to hear from Jeff M on the radio, it would be good if he came on either COWS or Solent and gave us his views/reasons again and made one or two things clearer re the new training ground.

From that statement depending how you interpret it, I didn’t think they had shelved/halted the training ground as well.

Then I have always tried to look on the positive side in my 61 years following the Cherries.

Yes we have had more negatives than positives in that time. But once Eddie and Max came together it has all been positive.

I expect some others on here and amongst our fans still think it’s a dream we are playing in the Premier League.
