Dominic Solanke

There was rumours of him and Clyne on Twitter but we couldn't take both on loan - you reckon Eddie's trying for one on a permanent?

Clyne apparently told a Liverpool fan that he was coming to us on loan.

Nice shout, hope it comes off. Whats Solanke worth just out of interest.

He has to be somewhere between 10-15m? He's played for the full England side of course but with his appearance record not being amazing, probably balances this a bit? Just a wild guess though!

Liverpool paid £3-4 million for him at a tribunal and since then he's done nothing. True, he may not have played that much but that isn't exactly an example of him making progress either.

Complete opposite of what makes logical sense

I'd suggest Clyne may not want a permanent deal at the minute though. Think he's actually unlucky to not be in their first team, seeing him play against Everton the other week, he was solid. Trent A-A is a great talent but still up and down [ his pass completion rate last night must have been low! ].

I am sure I saw Clyne was out of contract in the summer, so just perhaps, its a loan and then permanent to spread the costs?

Well it appears most Liverpool fans are against loaning out Clyne and want to keep him for cover. I think Klopp thinks he can afford to take the risk of loaning him out but the Pool obviously still think he has a future with them.
Solanke on the other hand, not so much.
So I think a loan for Clyne and Solanke permanent seems more likely. Not sure I'm happy about signing Solanke permanently but if the price is right I guess I'll reserve judgement. Just hope we aren't getting ripped off again by those scallywags up there !!

I'm surprised they are letting Clyne come out on loan, that leaves Trent A-A and Milner as back up? With Gomes being injured.

Solanke is a good player with potential, he's played for the full England team remember and probably just needs regular first team football.

Interesting if we buy Solanke for say 10-15m as suggested above....which would you rather this or the training ground investment ?

Training ground all day for me. Not wishing to go all Brighton on us but we really do need to look at improving our infrastructure going forwards. I understand the stadium is an economic decision and that the numbers don't necessarily add up to justify the investment. I think that argument is harder to make when it comes to our training facilities which are an integral part of our performance levels on the field and of our ability to attract quality players to the club.
But I still think the training ground stall might not be purely financial. I'm not sure buying Solanke would make much difference. Maybe there are still environmental or geological problems with the proposed site. Seems strange that there has been ZERO movement on this issue. It wouldn't cost much to at least make a start on the groundworks. So still not sure that the stalling on the new training ground is just down to money personally.
:hmmm:
