Callum Wilson

Ironically I've felt he's looked a little more wasteful in front of goal than previously.

Just seen his stats:
Big chances scored: 5
Big chances missed: 12

He's getting in the right positions as always but I think he's benefiting from some incredible supply.

That said Mo Salah has 4 and 8 scored and missed respectively!

I think you'd expect a top 6 striker to score 1 in 3 big chances. Callum is a little below that level.

I do feel there is a misconception among fans of how easy a chance is. Lazy pundits label every miss as a sitter. If every so called sitter was scored, we'd see 10 goals every game!

Some people also tend to forget that goalkeepers are pretty good at PL level too........................................

If someone offered silly cash say 40m I'd take it, he works hard and gets in scoring positions but he also has lost a yard since the injuries and still misses a fair share of chances more than he scores. I still think King is a better striker just needs to work as hard as CW.

I actually disagree with this. King is a hard working player, but most of his hard work is for himself. He needs to get his head up and play more for the team. Fraser, for example is equally hard working but backs up his goals with assits

In terms of Wilson. There has been so much debate as to whether he is the same player since his injuries. The answer is obvious. Callum in 2018 is 3 times the player he was in our promotion season!

In the PL he has scored a goal every 202 mins
In the Champ he scored on average every 195 mins

Take into account the higher standard of play and the massive improvement in his all round game: - Post injury Callum (with his artificial knees!) is a totally different animal to his previous version!

and what would we do with the 40m? Our top-class holding midfielder cost £25, so how much for a replacement proven goalscorer? Not much point gaining 40m then spending it again with no guarantee that the replacement would be as successful.

...not sure that AFCB could turn down a 40 million pound bid for any player tbh?

Let's not be kidding ourselves eh?

The only chance we would have is if more than one club came in for him and a bidding war could be sorted?

As ridiculous as it sounds, we just spent £30 million on a player so it isn't so far from the money we pay for a player. Given that, transferring an in-form proven PL striker still in his mid-twenties to a top six club mid-season should command a significant premium.

Chelsea (as an example) may not want to pay anything like £60 million but that's what we should be asking. Take a leaf out of the book of that lot down the road. State our price, make it a big one and stick to it. If they don't want to meet it then they can look elsewhere.

Stand up clubs like that in situations like this from the outset and it will make it easier in the future. Cave this time and they'll see us an easy-touch and each time we have a player they want they'll underbid until the player agitates for the move.

The first sale to a big six club is an important marker for how things will go in the future. It's vital we get it right.

...sense in what you say...but Van Dyk was left out of Stains team for a while, and left under a bit of a cloud...not sure I would want that with Callum?...realistically we can't hope to compete at the moment (another reason why having a proper stadium and training facilities would put us up a notch or two in status!)

We need to keep Callum, and at this point he needs to stay to continue his goal scoring.
He's doing fantastic, but if you look at his shooting percentages, he misses the target about half the time. Whereas 80% of Sterling's shots are on target. Think what a player he could be if he could improve that stat even a bit.
Then I could more realistically see a top-6 club coming for him (of course, he'd also be the PL scoring leader by that time).

I did think Callum was a little bit under the very best in this division [ and he is, in reality ] but even the very top strikers will miss sitters. Kane fails from inside the six yard box sometimes! I do think any top class side would improve Callum even further and he's now already very much improved.
I'd like to think he would stay here for a while longer but lets face it, anyone outside the regular big six know they will be at risk of losing their best talent to them.

On Facebook news picture of him and what appears to be his agent on train to London, bit worrying but not unexpected in current spending spree !,

Seriously, I think he'll be gone within the week.

Will be gutted if that’s how it turns out, but I think you're probably right. The fact we’ve gone fairly big on Solanke sort of suggests to me that someone is on their way out.
