Reasons to be cheerful - part 3

Effin grow up.
I know what you are alluding at.

I reckon we will be relegated next season..
Yep!
An opinion.

Reasons, if your tiny effing cranium can take it is are.

1. A few players will more than likely be picked off.
2. 14 points in 19 games.

IT'S AN OPINION. GOT IT!
AM I NOT ALLOWED IT?

You are Al, just as others are allowed to dispute it.

Look at those stats John....how can anyone we we 'in it' up to the final whistle....we're the first side EVER in the PL to register 0 shots at home ....thats what i call embarrassing....not getting beat 5-1.
Oh yeah, Top, they're awful, no dispute. But, I'm in the camp with tedisking and others who felt that, right down to the whistle, all we needed was a long ball forward, some pace that might expose Kompany, a kind drop of the ball to Josh or Lys, and back of the net. Or maybe a pen .... no, never mind.

I'm quite happy today. 0 shots maybe, but we were 1 pass, run, controlled ball or poor referee decision away from having a few. Chances were always going to be very few given how we set up and the opposition.
Very happy for Mepham and Simpson, mature all round games, proves we have options st the back (though inconsistency will be inevitable given their age and inexperience at the top level)
Given recent results, I'd rather we did that today than go through another pasting, seen enough of those away this year.
Points to come from remaining games, so I'm off to enjoy a pint rather than rant about not matching up to the billionaires

I thought today was an admirable performance, but a massive (and understandable, given our injuries) step backwards in terms of matching the top teams in this league.

Thought we went a bit too defensive; not sure we needed 6 defenders on?? Probably would have started Mousset instead of Daniels and had someone to support King.

Again, proud of the effort but don’t think we should be celebrating too much a loss where he had no shots and none of the ball.

Fair enough John....it's fair to say i didn't feel the same way.....and i'm usually quite optimistic.....i thought todays performance was just so humbling....quite depressing actually.

Huddersfield away....we once again change formation and tactics...back to all out attack..more confusion without stability.
Im now in the mood to go slightly Minty mode.....Huddersfield will win one eventually...why not next week....we are bound...nailed on bound... to underestimate them!
The feeling in the camp..and imposed on it by the Forum media...will be ...an easy run now.....thats NOT how it works.
Its also nailed on now that we are going to a 5th PL season...we simply must go into it with the right balance between Attack and Defence...normality ..as Watford and Wolves do...not all this p#ssing about ...with Ibe in and out....today we needed Goslings work rate and tenacity...so he leaves him out?????He was the one wound up after Arsenal saying WE need to improve....he leaves him out...no Fire! Im baffled for once!

There is no actual exact real security around 'Fact'....all 'Facts' are interpreted from different angles....see Brexit..... . The first person that records a ' fact ' 'isnt always reliable as a source....there are millions of mistakes on Wikipedia. Nearly All Facts are actually Opinions...see Trump.
Watch women in cloth shops...arguing whether a dress is dark blue or dark green and it turned out to be black.
Someone throws a packet of Crisps at you...says Walkers on the bag....no longer..they are now yours!
Opinions are just random thoughts ...subject to change of mind.
My Mrs said to me today about my references to Trump news ( she likes him!!!) " thats your opinion" she said. "....um yeah it must be I suppose...if I said it" I couldnt even remember what I actually said! She is still mumbling about it in the kitchen. Trying to make out im some kind of Nutjob! Women eh?

TF I understand your frustration but in reality as it turned out we were one breakaway from getting a point, at 1-0 you're always in the game, they were trying to run the clock down at the end and I'd rather not get d1cked, game in game out by these teams and start by making ourselves hard to beat - be great if we could do both but glass half empty or half full ? its a tricky one

I agree that if we play all 38 games next season in the manner we have over our last 19, we will go down. In fact I'm absolutely sure of it.

However, I don't think we really will play so poorly across the entire season.

But it's not that simple. Our last 19 games included 10 against the top 6, the way our fixtures have panned out has been quite bizarre this season.

Howe got his tactics spot on, given the hand he was dealt with availability. The last thing we needed was another tonking, and that defensive work out today will boost confidence. That we can (almost) contain quality opposition if we need to. Simpson and Mepham will have learned from that, nothing better for their development than facing Ageruo etc.

We can build on today.
We wouldn't have been able to build on another battering.

Are we excused playing the top 6 next season?

We play a 26 game season, with the hope of nicking something off the other 12.

The fixture list thing is a Red Herring.......All the hard ones and easy ones have to be played...if they fall into a bunched up sequence respectively, that will balance out over the whole season ! Too much is made of it...every game is important.

I was not there today (forced to miss probably only my fourth home game in the last 10 years, but.. needs must....)
but It was encouraging to stay in the game and show we can defend well against these sides if we need to. Yes, it's a concern to have zero shots in the game.

A fit and sharp Brooks and Wilson and we may have been able to get something, but try and play our normal game against that lot and find ourselves 4 down after 65 minutes, and there really is no chance of coming back from that.

I appreciate that EH set up very defensively today, and why, even if the outcome was rather unappetising for many... but something to build on when we play the Man Citys of this world.
