VAR

Having just seen Arsenals disallowed goal and Man Utd penalty can VAR get any worse? Added to Brighton's penalty yesterday what a f...ing shambles.
Then add in the Norwich keeper being well off his line with both pen saves and you really wonder what is the point of it.

That's the one that really annoys me. If VAR can do anything well it's rule on matters of fact. Was the ball in or out? Was the keeper on the line or not? If you can't rule on that then what's the point?

Apparently this is not down to the VAR team to decide, its for the officials on the pitch.....although I am sure we have seen a kick retaken after VAR got involved...?

VAR will only rule in encroachment at penalties this season - not on whether the keeper is on the line or not

Does anyone know if The FA and PL will be reviewing the uses of VAR and if clubs will be involved in the brief?

The 20 PL club chairmen are due their next meeting on November 14 where VAR will be debated, if they vote on a motion to change how it's implemented then the PL could take that on board. The PL already having a different implementation of it to FIFA.

May I just say it just gets worse and worse - I reckon the refs who sit in stockley Park are bent as fcuk - suspect the delay is due to them getting on the satellite to their Asian bookie friend.

its not just fcukin ridiculous it’s a bent scam

I hate Var for all the reasons above and the fact i didn’t celebrate Kings goal yesterday internally as much as I did externally because I was waiting to find out it brushed his fingernail when he flicked it.

However... if we absolutely can’t get rid of the wretched thing then there comes another reason why I hate it... footballs disdain of its fans and how it is therefore used.

All of this centres around the ref associations absolute obsession with never being able to make a public mistake. If there is an argument for VAR it is that we all accept that with the pace of the game offside calls and tight decisions on penalties are hard and refs need help. All you have to do is look at the rugby final yesterday... everyone seeing the screens, hearing the thought process and managing it bravely. Not football though... because referees would have to get it right then, be brave and accountable. Best off sitting them behind screens not having to defend our penalty at Southampton or the clear one that went in our favour when Jefferson stood on Silva v Man City..

That Firmino offside one yesterday was a joke. What part of him was offside? If you can’t get it right with a freeze frame you can’t do it, I’m sorry.

Shameful. Something we never needed done wrong. All to protect a very poor skill base of talent. You couldn’t make it up.

Firmino's goal being scratched was a joke, almost too marginal to be decided upon.

I think that we should scrap VAR and go back to how football should be played and enjoyed, fair enough mistakes are made but it is only the way sport should be

It was a tight one that the lino flagged offside, which is good enough for me. You'll never get every decision right but at least leaving it to the guy in the pitch doesn't ruin the game.

One of the biggest issues that is now becoming apparent is that VAR is changing every week. Frank Lampard alludes to that from his report on the PL managers meeting in the week.
It was very clear that there were media based complaints that refs penalty decisions were not being "corrected". Lo and behold we get 2 of the most ridiculous pens of all time last week in the Norwich and Brighton games.
It is an utter shambles.
