VAR

One of the biggest issues that is now becoming apparent is that VAR is changing every week. Frank Lampard alludes to that from his report on the PL managers meeting in the week.
It was very clear that there were media based complaints that refs penalty decisions were not being "corrected". Lo and behold we get 2 of the most ridiculous pens of all time last week in the Norwich and Brighton games.
It is an utter shambles.

Precisely, we've now got political style directives ahead of each game. The way games are being refereed is predetermined based on whatever is in fashion at the time, which as we all know depends on whatever controversial decision has affected some big club in the previous week.

Just let the bloke in the middle and his team call it as they see it. Firmino was flagged offside - no goal, move on.

Straight red for Son. Not to celebrate him going off for what was an accident and a terrible injury to Gomes, but does that mean he misses our game?

I can't believe I've wasted 90 minutes watching this. Tuned in to see why Spurs and Everton have had such a bad start to the season and now I know why. This is like a mid-table Premier League match from 1996. So poor.

Just my opinion but didn’t look like a red card for Son either, injury caused by turning ankle over on the turf.

Mind you to me it looked more like a red for a subtle but deliberate double throw of the elbow by Gomes.

I don’t know what is a handball anymore. The Dele Ali one should be based on other VAR decisions, but it wasn’t given.

The red card should have been overturned, now they’ll have to rescind it which shouldn’t happen with VAR. Granted it didn’t look like Som was in any state to continue but that’s irrelevant.

Shambles.

Interesting isn’t it. The kind of subject that we all agree on for once. As do fans of every club.

Now all we have to do is wait to be consulted..... and wait...... and wait....

there are now different rules for handball depending on whether you are defending or attacking. If someone scores but the ball has had the slightest touch on your arm or on a team mates arm the goal is disallowed. If the defending team accidentally handball it and then clear it there is no penalty given. Confused - you bet.

It’s easy for the attacking team to decide whether it’s handball at least, but that has to be a penalty based on the silhouette guidelines given out at the start of the season.
