Villa - The Verdict

I just loved that. As others have said both halves were great for different reasons. Even if we'd have lost that we showed a lot of fight, enough to give us faith we can turn our season round. Some of our recent performances have lacked any sort of positives - not today - it was full of positives.

If we keep running like we've been on the belters all night for rest of season like these last two games then we can do it. Must keep running and fighting.

One more thing, GREALISH IS A ******

Yes, a very annoying player for us (being the opposition today) not least as he bought a few fouls.... But bloody hell he’s some player don’t you think? Head and shoulders the best player on the pitch today imho. How is he not in the England squad?! Apart from him, I think our 11 on the pitch today were better man for man than any of their players.

Brilliant afternoon. Fully deserved to win. Can't fault anyone today, they all gave their all, and for 90mins! They looked utterly shagged at the end. Red card was a shocker. Grealish turned into a stationary Lerma and threw himself backwards and that **************** Taylor bought it. Wins breed confidence and we go to Sheffield on a high. Cmon you Reds

From the stream I was watching, the atmosphere sounded electric today. Crowd fed off the energy and positivity of the players in the first half and then helped the team over the line in the 2nd half. You could visibly see the lift given to the likes of Rico, Fraser and Billing as the crowd cheered every interception, block or tackle.

Great effort from all that were there. We may be tinpot but it's a unique atmosphere when our little old stadium gets going!

We'd be bottom of the league without him

So unlucky not to get a goal today.

Finally the players are giving their absolute all on the pitch.

Today and against Brighton they’ve shown that they were basically pedestrians in previous games.

We’ve now got pressing at the rights times and as a unit, we’ve got movement, we’ve got pace, quicker passes, higher tempo.

The players need to be reminded that this isn’t job done though, they cannot relapse into their previous lazy habits.

What is the mood around Reina? I think that could be a real soft spot for you. Just doesn't look like a first line PL keeper, but then this was only one game.

And how about your new striker? Was wild on a couple of shots, but does seem to manage an effort.

Correct. I really didn't want to mention him.
He is despised by everyone outside of Villa Park.
Goes down as soon as a hair is displaced.
He'll be great for England tho, conning bang average referees on the International stage is quite easy, as many a Latin side has proven over the decades.
Spot on!

It does beg the question why haven't we played like this, with the energy we showed today and movement I fancy us to beat most teams

Honourable mention for all of them. Mistakes and missed chances could have cost us but they all put a great performance in, especially down to 10!

Well you deserved that no question and I think we are in real trouble

We have some very poor players at times and today showed some of their worst features.

Good luck for the rest of the year. I think you'll have enough

For the games I’ve seen Grealish has really stood outa d is carrying your team at times. Hated by all opponents fans but he is a very talented player

This season i rate him higher than any other English midfielder even better than Maddison

villa were very poor especially after we went down to 10 men
if grealish gets injured they're a shoo-in for one of those relegation spots

I am not sure the PL atmosphere has ever been as good as last ten minutes.

We even had most of the south stand in front standing up for ' stand up if you love Bournemouth'.

Maybe Liverpool 4-3, Southampton 2-0?

Any others?

Reminded me of 87, against Middlesbrough when the belief that we were going up started to be there.

Obviously also the last few games in the Championship, culminating in Bolton.

I'll say this quietly, I like Grealish, and would have him in our team any day. Creates better than most, and there is a reason opposition fans dislike him, not just because he draws goals and cards.
He could however be one that stands out amongst a poor team , but put him in with a top 6 squad and he could disappear, lives off being the top dog. Don't mean that hastily, some are just made like that (Le Tissier)
But today was fantastic, no stand outs, everybody pulled a shift, and s reason I suspect we made no changes
Missed these sort of performances more than I realised
