Francis and Surman both gone

Surman a bit of an unsung hero at times!
Never fully appreciated by some on here. The best passer of a ball Bournemouth have ever had!

I think surman was under rated. So often took possession in tight situations to help distribution of cook and elphick, recycling the balk to keep possession. People moaned he played the ball square a lot but he was able to spot movement off the ball to get the ball up quickly. Often it was lack of movement that meant sideways was the best outlet.

Doors close and doors open. Fantastic servants to the club who deserve the highest of praise for their efforts over the years but time to move on and give others the opportunity to write their names on history. A strong move by the club and as already mentioned the end of an era. Eddie's era and Eddie is no longer here. Time for JT to create his own legacy.

Was never going go be a good time whenever it was that left.
Enough comments over recent years about Franno not acting like a leader, (a lot of whinging when he made errors) so I dont go with the loss of leadership comments. However, both massive parts in our history, had forgotten Surman was ever present in 15/16. Always came across as great guys, and legends in our most successful years, wish them every success and hope they get a chance of a send off when people are allowed back

brave move but i’m backing JT on this, who obviously wants a young hungry squad, fewer players in the treatment room and the likes of steve cook and gosling to be the more experienced leaders next season

as has been said, just a shame we couldn’t have seen them off and shown our appreciation for everything they’ve done for the club

Brave but understandable decision, JT’s new dawn and all that. I also think they might both prefer to be playing regularly rather than being bit part players at most next season with us. Both will always be AFCB legends for being part of THAT squad and both would be welcomed back here in some capacity when their playing days are over. Heartfelt thanks to both of them for all they gave us and they leave with my best wishes for the future. The fact that Daniels still has a chance to prove his worth post injury pleases me. I think he has a decent chance of a contract extension and it would be well deserved after all he has been through lately. I’d love to see him bombing down the wing for one last season !

Bloody hell we could do with some good news...if getting old is depressing enough we have to watch as the players of the team that most of us loved more than any other... slowly wilt away.....
One of the things i enjoyed about the PL was the signing of players that i didn't really care about......anyway here's hoping that they all come back in some sort of coaching capacity.....:grinning:
Good luck Franno and Drew ....two players that epitomised everything good about our club.

Surprised about Franno, purely on the fact that he can cover two positions,I know we have Smith and Stacey at RB,but only Cook,Mepham,Kelly,Simpson at CB.
This suggests he rates Simpson as someone who can do a job in the Championship.

Very sad to see the departure of such good servants who have been such a large part of this clubs best years.

However, I suspect they would have expected to leave if we had stayed up as they featured very little last season. I guess the deciding factor now is the amount of cover in their positions that we still have in younger players.

Time to move on and for new players to become the clubs dependables.

As others have said, a little bit disappointed as I felt all three had something to offer at this level - but having said that if the financial terms for them to stay were relatively significant I would rather see that ploughed back into faces for a longer term future. Best of luck to Franno and Surs in their next career moves, whichever clubs they go to will be getting two excellent pros.

Also a repetition of previous comments but it would have been an easy decision for Tindall to play safe and stick with known faces, this shows a statement of intent to do things his way (although we know Eddie also wasn’t one for sentiment!) - hope it pays off for him. (He would also have got pelters from people for keeping them on, so no win decisions here!)

Looking forward to seeing who he brings in.

Which worries me if true. Simpson is the most one-footed player in the squad, if not the whole league; really hope we bring in cover who can kick with their right foot
