If only we could play Villa every week....

If only we could play Villa every week!...........seriously though well done for how well your doing so far this season.....bit of a surprise tbf as i thought you were poorest team we played in the PL for a number of years.....i remember thinking after our first game that it was a miracle you got promoted at all.....i suppose thats the beauty of the play off system......no hard feelings here btw as we're all quite enjoying being in the Championship again....we've never had the chance to get bored of it tbf.........anyway good luck for the rest of the season...looking good for a mid table finish.

Fair enough if you think that, I thought we were ok vs Bournemouth in both our games last season and thought we had worse games so we must have been dreadful on occasion! Our problem last season was incorporating a lot of new players into our setup which took time and trying to play football too much which saw us punished. Even so there was so much relief at staying up and we obviously got fortunate given we left it so late.

The Championship is certainly fun, lacking in quality somewhat but it feels nice to win more than you lose and you're clearly one of the better teams in the division this season, best of luck.

It seems to me that the health of our national game would be greatly improved if one of the Birmingham clubs established itself as one of the six best teams in England over an extended period to disturb the duopoly of the North West and London, and Villa seem best placed to become this club..

Definitely. West Ham are the best example of the media fawning over average clubs just because they are London based. If they were anywhere else they'd be a West Brom in terms of media interest.

But if there's a chance of the 'good old 'ammers' going down it seems to turn into a national emergency.

There could be other reasons the good ole 'ammers get publicity!!! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: WHU Board

I realize that I am out of the loop on occasion on this side of the pond, but have there been no new rumblings about him going in this transfer window? Happy to keep him, but has his stock fallen that much?
(or did I just miss it?).

No rumblings at all. His stock has fallen. If he is decent in the second half of the season I could see PL clubs coming in for him in the Summer. But on current form, with our current valuation, no chance !

Tricky game, I guess. We could have fetched a nice packet had we sold Callum, Wee Man, Josh and Brooksie at their heights. For a team like AFCB, must always be tempting to sell when the valuations go through the roof and the market shows interest.

edit ... tbf, must acknowledge that the club did well with Nathan and Rambo.

I think even the most pessimistic among us would have thought that Brooksie would have had more of an impact so far this season. I can understand why the club thought it was important to keep him in the summer and set that valuation of 40m. We expected him to be an important part of our promotion challenge.
For whatever reason, so far it hasn't really worked out that way.

Look back at the threads and you'll see people saying £50M is not enough for Wilson (or Brooks) and we shouldn't sell if we have any ambition.

Now we started the season net £50M in debt and selling for less than half the quoted prices.

If we'd sold when the stocks were high we'd be cash positive and there'd be player training in the Eddie Howe training complex.

Their group is far from ideal. Italy's defence will give Brooks short shrift. Switzerland are solid enough. Turkey can do anything from struggling with Latvia and Azerbaijan to beating The Netherlands, so it's hard to call if Wales can get at them.

Any club willing to pay decent money will have had 2 years of mostly poor games to scout...I can't see buyers queuing at Blake's door, fortunately or unfortunately I'm not sure.
