Scott Parker

I’m not sure you can argue that this would be the cheap and easy option. He is a manager currently in work for a club in the same division, if anything this is as an expensive and complicated appointment as we could hope to make. I don’t actually know anything about how his teams play, but surely we’d be better off begging Eddie to return?

For clarity, I should have put a wink at the end of my post as it is the opposite of so many posts that keep getting posted on here! Ie being sarcastic

The most important aspect of any approach for Parker is the intent it signals from our board. It’s not a cheap option and to persuade Parker to come you’d think he’d want reassurances about budget and players. It would point to me towards a willingness to give promotion another serious crack.

It's funny how managers are perceived....Parker has done sod all as a manager other than get a team with one of if not the highest wage bill promoted though the play offs before getting them relegated from the PL at the first attempt......yet there are managers out of work like Roy Keane who have actually won the bloody Championship that wouldn't be given a second thought.........

Don’t understand why there are no odds for the next manager

The club before openly ‘advertised’ the post, hence we had odds and speculation on different people who wanted the job.

This time all that has been mentioned (JM) is they are getting close to finding a new manager.

So maybe they have their own internal short list and are keeping any names in house and possibly just between the board and MD who will make the final decision.

no different to last time, the bookies had a comprehensive list of internal and external names...

I always think managers are better in their second job. Parker will be better for what he has learnt. Eddie was even better when he came back im sure. JW was better than when at Boro.

The last time we had just publicly sacked J T.

This time all we know is JW was on a contract until the end of the season and not what happened after that, except he was returning home for a few days and then returning.

By internal short list I meant exactly that, just for board members and our owner.

It has never been easy finding out what is going on at our club, no more forums etc.

We get rumours I have heard this from so and so, but they are contradictory to what others have heard.

So maybe we will just have to wait until we hear it from the ‘horses mouth’.

The fact that repeatedly we have tried to get Parker is encouraging that the conviction is there that Eddie’s work can be continued by him. Especially style of football.

Clear Parker hadn’t agreed with the running of the club and wanted backing in transfer market but got lots of loan players instead. Really bad start but turned it around only for Fulham to fade. The few games I saw Fulham played well but missed some easy chances - bit like Brighton.

I made this point on another thread too, it’s very odd. The whole process is strange, it’s almost like no-one outside of Bournemouth is aware that Woodgates contract is up and that we may be in the market for a new manager.

Yeah I'm sure people learn from their mistakes......it can go the other way too I suppose Keane didn't repeat that early promise at Ipswich and technically Burnley was Eddie's second job.
Incidentally Sol Campbell was on talkshite a few days ago saying he would love the chance to manage us!....:throw::grinning:......he has a better CV than Woodgate tbf.
..

Echo now have the Sun story, plus this para re JW’s contract, below. So his contract expires at the same time as some of the players.

And with Jonathan Woodgate's short-term contract as head coach set to expire at the end of this month, the club are now assessing their options as to who can take the club forward in the Championship next season.

I think it would be the wrong decision to get Scott Parker in, we'd have to buy him out of his contract and he would command a big salary for a championship club. Why would he leave Fulham anyway?
