Training ground

This is a fair point. Communication about these things from the club is terrible.
I reckon that they are a bit tentative regarding future plans because the training pitches didn't happen and the board get pelters.Uncle Jeff starts grandstanding about a new / bigger ground , nothing comes of it and Jeff is public enemy No 1.
We'll probably only know something is happening on either if it is quite a way down the pipeline.

I joked the other day that if Max was worth what he was initially reported to be when he took over then he would have invested every single penny he has and then some in the club, obviously a completely farcical assertion and the reality is that he is worth a lot more. Bloody funny that a genuine paper believe that a guy who has invested 160m+ is worth 3m! Turns out there reporters are equally as thick as their fans haha

People saying it’s not our money to spend but we could use supporters money in the form of debentures to fund part of the new stadium
Not sure if there would be enough interest but would be interesting to see if it could be done
If the council would provide the land and you could get other income streams say like a hotel etc to invest it doesn’t have to be max putting the cash in

How much is he worth?

Excellent as ever from Sam and the BotN people. Level-headed and informative piece on the situation regarding infrastructure investment.

Really good video, super analysis, although lost it a bit for me towards the end with assumption on the kids.

From my experience with a young kid and chatting to parents, they were all desperate for tickets all season. Even when there were empty seats they couldn’t get them. The system to get tickets for newbies is just so complicated that you see the “will to live” leave their bodies whilst trying to explain to them the points system, registering online for each person, linking accounts for friends and family etc etc

You get comments back that it’s just easier to get tickets elsewhere and so that’s what they do…so they are then elsewhere when the bug bites. Or tickets are so scarce that who will ever get into the “habit”, which we all know you need for regular match day goers.

Yeah there were a couple of bits that I didn't quite agree with but in general I thought he was pretty spot on. In his defence I do think a club with enough demand to sell 20k in the championship wouldn't have struggled to sell 10k tickets despite issues with the points system. What would our attendances have been if we had a 25k ground? Well under 20k on average is my guess.

It’s a stick a finger up in the air and have a guess thing in regards to numbers for one season. Which makes the comment a bit folly and out of place in an otherwise great feature.

If you’ve got kids desperate to support their local side, but reliant on their parents who may not be football savvy, let alone AFCB savvy, then it needs to be easy to get them in. That’s simply not the case so no assumptions can be made.

The evidence that I’ve seen, which of course is limited, but could well be repeated around all the local schools is there is a generation of kids frustrated that they cannot go to games.

It is but you wonder what the club found out with the work they did do when they, apparently, seriously considered expansion before deciding against it. It surely wouldn't be too difficult to get a decent estimate of demand using the ticket data they have, market research they did and using comparison with other clubs.

Corporate and hospitality income seems to be the thing that makes the big difference. I've always compared our potential income with Swansea, Hull, West Brom etc. but you wonder if a southern club had greater potential for corporate income. Brighton and Southampton generate a lot per fan, presumably due to south prawn sandwich types. AFCB must have a fairly decent idea of potential income.

Why are you so convinced we would struggle to get near to a 20,000 attendance figure? Every league game has been sold out since 2015, even the Boreham Wood game sold out, if that doesn't prove that the demand is there I don't know what will.

I just think we're very similar in size to Reading, Swansea, etc. I think the average championship attendance last season was under 20k was it not?

Edit: average was 16,965
