Joe Rothwell

If reports are true it seems he is set to sign for Forest.

I suppose that is a move South which is what Rothwell and his fiancé wanted according to reports.

Did he even play against us at Ewood, can't say I noticed. We already have better players so need a higher quality player tbh

Yes but subbed as was struggling with injury and was doubtful pre-match with the injury. Hard to judge given how we won comfortably but he had some neat touches without the dominating the game.

Wasn;t particularly excited by the prospect of signing him. 28 in Jan, never played higher than Blackburn, was still playing League 1 in mid twenties.

Could be a decent signing of course in the end, particularly on a free (but sizeable signing on fee no doubt), but think we need and could do better tbh.

Strikes me as a good to very good Champ player, but barely average, if that, for top flight. COuld be wrong of course.

If he does join us then I’ll get behind the signing, but if I’m being honest I didn’t want him in January and don’t want him now. Old, no top flight experience, no resale value, kinda sorta downed tools for Blackburn. He fits the formation on paper but there must be dozens of players available that would.

Tom Lawrence is an older, worse Harry Wilson with incredibly mediocre championship stats. Has never impressed regularly at any level. No thanks.

Quite happy with this as we don't have a ball carrying midfielder.....technically very good with great feet..... I also think the PL will suit his game better than the Championship.

Surprised at lack of enthusiasm for Rothwell on this forum. We need a partner/sub for Lewis Cook - a player who can beat a man and carry the ball. He's also a good size and can help protect the back line. If we've persisted with him since the Jan window he must have quality - and he comes on a free. What's not to like?

I've seen Rothwell have some very influential performances against us, and some utterly anonymous performances.

When I have seen him impress, it's been more advanced, in and around the final third looking for gaps, not as deep as L.Cook or Lerma.

Not sure if both Marcus Tavernier and Joe Rothwell is possible? I might prefer Tavernier, but Rothwell is out of contract instead of 10m+, so there's value.
