Nothing? This is just poor management of the club. No decision re whether JW stays? No other manager lined up? Or everything is sorted and it’s a secret.

Looks to me like they’ll pull Eddie out of a hat. Otherwise, why the silence?
That’s what I’m hoping. Ed is the obvious solution but obviously there will be extremely tough negotiations needed before an agreement can be reached ! EH will not come back without certain guarantees being made, you can be sure of that.

Alternatively the board may all be in the Bahamas somewhere enjoying some much deserved downtime ( more likely IMO ).
:slap:

Surely career suicide for Eddie to come back here... Especially after the Celtic fiasco, it would show he's seriously a one club man and lacks ambition...

Two points.

At another club, there will be the personal upheaval, the getting to know the club, the re-building, etc.
There will be expectations and demands for quick success. What will the board expect from EH? Will he win the fans over? Could he already be out the door by Xmas?

At AFCB, EH can hit the ground running. He knows the set-up, the staff, the everything. No need to move/travel.
The size of the challenge is known and risk of failure/chance of success balance is in his favour - he's done it before.
Guaranteed a song from day one.

I agree with everything you’ve said… But I still think it would be career suicide for him to come back to DC for a third time, with his only stint in management outside of us being a very underwhelming time at Burnley…

Of course, it all depends how ambitious Howe is…? I just don’t think we can seriously consider him as an option…

Not so sure about that.

Eddie looked ‘washed out’ at the end of the PL season, he needed a break.

Now he has had that break, maybe a stepping stone back could be our club and promotion back to the PL in his first season back, wouldn’t be bad for his CV.

Something else may come up in the meantime, but there are a number of candidates for the PL jobs available.

It depends a bit where he’s willing to move/commute to. It could seriously limit his choices if he doesn’t want to relocate
Let’s face it he is his own fiercest critic and maybe doesn’t need to prove anything to anyone apart from himself

There’s one massive turd in the water pipe though - if Eddie comes back will he insist on Sweet Caroline being played again ?
If he does then it’s a no no from me ...

It will be Woodgate. To think otherwise you would be deluding yourselves. The reason it is taking a while isn’t because other options are being considered, it’s because they are negotiating terms. Sad but true.

I don’t. It’s a prediction. But I have so little faith in the board that I can state it with certainty. There is no way Blake and co are capable of anything other than the cheap and easy option.
Well, here's an idea.

Next time you have an opinion, or want to make a prediction, why don't you preface it by saying something like, " I reckon that..." or "I believe that...".

Just because you have little faith in the board (and you're not alone there), it doesn't turn your feelings or opinions into incontestable facts.

I will post whatever I want.
thanks.

Given it will soon have been a week since Woodgate's contract ran out, it's almost ridiculous to think they would now roll it on and hand him the post... What a waste of almost 2 week's worth of valuable off-pitch work that could have been done for next season...

There hasn't even been a whiff of anything to suggest it is him, but saying that, nor has there been for anyone else for that matter...

Nothing on the bookies' sites... social media... Kris Temple, Alex Crook...

One can only assume that the mother of all announcements is going to happen sometime soon and the board will be held aloft as if there was never a bad word said against them...

...Or it will just be Woodgate and I revert you all back to the start of this post!!!!

I just don’t understand the delay, the Echo and Kris Temple were adamant that a meeting was taking place at the back end of last week; it was then ‘Rolling into the weekend’, which weekend did they mean? The one before the start of the season?
