EVERTON MANAGER UPDATE - RAFA, NUNO FAVOURITES

Everton are not expected to announce a new manager before next week, and are still discussing the role with a number of candidates

Former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez and ex-Wolves boss Nuno Espírito Santo remain the favourites to land the job, along with Belgian manager and previous Everton incumbent Roberto Martinez.

However, Sky Sports News understands up to eight candidates have been considered by the Everton board which includes former striker and current coach Duncan Ferguson, former Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe and Lille’s Ligue 1 title winning manager Christophe Galtier.

The prospect of former Reds manager Benitez becoming the next Everton boss has been met with an unfavourable reaction from the club's fans, however he remains a strong contender for majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri.

And if Fulham refuse to budge on the compo?
They don’t want him there, this seems to be apparent. If they refuse to negotiate the sun down then they are stuck with a manager they don’t really want, and will eventually have to pay him off when they sack him. They have every right to budge, but it would make very little sense for them. The point is that we know his days there are numbered, and we are using this to strengthen our hand during negotiations.

..don't most people post on here because they think that they are in the know?..seems logical that if SP is contracted then any club wanting to prise him away would have to pay for the right to do so?
So, how much have we paid?

How much over the odds is it?

complexities?...simple to me Howe had time left on his contract and IF he had stayed and anyone wanted him then we would have got compensation...instead he is 'released' and we carried on paying him by all accounts...not sure what business sense that makes in any world you care to live in?...but no doubt you know better...
So because he didnt go anywhere thats afcb's fault! So many ifs in your statement.

More ups and downs than Thorpe Park. I liked the look of Parker. Seemed to be a good fit for the club. Reasonable record, young, ambitious, no apparent baggage. Then reading the comments from the Fulham folks on here it doesn’t sound like ‘football the Bournemouth way’ will be coming home. When I was younger I was a great supporter of the Italian way, strong defence, build from the back etc. and then along came Eddie. Apart from the John Bond era this was the most exciting, stimulating, entertaining stuff I’d ever seen at Dean Court and we had so many admirers across the world of football. Die hard Spurs, Chelsea and Arsenal fans at work would look at our games and purr with admiration. The buzz when Matt Ritchie or Marc Pugh got the ball. The sight of Charlie marauding down the left confident that Callum, Brett or Yann would get on the end of the move.
Tommy Elphick, the best team captain I can remember urging the guys on.
I know those heady days can never be repeated but SP doesn’t seem to be the man to get the juices flowing again.
Ask me who and I don’t know so I guess we’ve got to wait and see.

Don’t get me wrong I still think it will happen. I think as soon as fulham know the cost of his replacement, I think our demands will drop quite substantially. Fulham don’t want him, Parker doesn’t want to be thereF and Bournemouth do want him. There will be a compromise, my guess would be that as soon as Fulham know the cost of replacing him, (they know who they want) the demands will probably drop to exactly what it will cost to get that manager and his back room staff in. The replacement will certainly cost less than what you are paying for Parker, and therefore our demands are likely to drop. Fulham won’t want a massive profit, but they will probably just want enough to replace him. I’m sure Parker will end up in Bournemouth in the next week or so. Fulham want to be able to announce the new manager pretty soon after it’s announced Parker is going

That first 20 mins of the 2-2 V Ipswich at home, leading up to the Yann scissor kick. Never seen football that good, by any team, ever. Incredible stuff.

Absolutely spot on money there.

For the sake of everyone’s sanity Mostyn, get Eddie in and bring back these times for us!!

Honestly, that Championship winning side played some of the best, most exciting football I've ever seen by ANY team, I totally agree. Quite incredible how it all came to pass and how that squad grew together to become what it did.
We were privileged to be around to see it. I doubt we will ever see the like again but at least we saw it and it was OUR TEAM doing it !

My expectations for the future are considerably lower because I realise just how improbable that whole turn of events was. It really was verging on the miraculous, how it all happened.

Who do they want? Perhaps we can get them in first and just do a swap...

from what I’ve heard we have started talking to Javier Pereira. He was Jokanovic’s old assistant manager at Fulham, and is supposedly the brains behind the attacking football. He’s currently working in China but shouldn’t cost that much. He’s very popular with Mitrovic too which may help get Mitro firing again

Yep - Like being at the top of Everest. Enjoy it....basically downhill from here!!

Agreed, some incredible football. We've got high standards now...

So fulham no longer want full compensation, they want about 3.5million for Parker and his whole staff. Which is almost half of what it should be. However; AFCB cannot afford it, which is what’s causing the delay, Parker has threatened to resign to take it up but Fulham won’t accept his resignation unless there is a clause that he doesn’t go to Bournemouth as fulham want the compo. I get where both sides are coming from really. It’s a ridiculous situation and both boards seem incapable of having a grown up conversation to bridge the gap
You keep saying we can’t afford it. Trust me, our owner could afford to pay 3m in compo if he wanted to. It’s called a negotiation, why would we pay that amount when we know full well that you don’t even want the guy? Tbh your friend seems to be telling you a different thing every day, I wouldn’t take too much notice of what he’s saying.

Well at the fulham end it’s being reported as you can’t afford it (probably a negotiating tactic), ultimately the situation is changing regularly, it’s an ever evolving story. But i thought you might want to know the updates, as I know i would if it was us in your position. They will come to an agreement im sure they will but it’s currently a lot of bartering and jostling to get the best deal from both sides

Yes, I think we were taking issue with the "couldn't afford" reason being given.
That is a nice spin but the true reason will be that we are refusing on principle to pay compensation for a manager they no longer want there. 3.5 million would not be an obstacle if Parker was still wanted by Fulham but clearly he is not. The board's reluctance to pay in this instance is totally understandable.

Exactly, this talk of not affording it is rubbish. if we couldn;t afford that, why would he even be joining us?

Hi all, received the message below from my mate that works at Fulham.
The fulham contract is holding it up. They want compo but Bournemouth can't afford it. Parker says he will walk but again Fulham will only accept his resignation and let him go if there is a clause he won't go to Bournemouth as they want compo.
Spurs back in the mix aswell now. His agent is touting him around to other clubs too.

looks like this is going to drag on and on for a while longer yet….

haha spurs? so he has the choice of bmouth or spurs? can't believe spurs link for a minute.

What will be fun is how quickly Fulham replace Parker once he is gone. It seems most football clubs are able to handle managerial appointments without needing 6 months to figure it out

6 months? Circumstances are a bit different now don't you think?
