Scott Parker

You keep saying we can’t afford it. Trust me, our owner could afford to pay 3m in compo if he wanted to. It’s called a negotiation, why would we pay that amount when we know full well that you don’t even want the guy? Tbh your friend seems to be telling you a different thing every day, I wouldn’t take too much notice of what he’s saying.
Couldn’t have put it better myself…

from what I’ve heard we have started talking to Javier Pereira. He was Jokanovic’s old assistant manager at Fulham, and is supposedly the brains behind the attacking football. He’s currently working in China but shouldn’t cost that much. He’s very popular with Mitrovic too which may help get Mitro firing again

Posted yesterday that West Brom and Fulham interested in him.

Although West Brom now want to speak to the Barnsley manager.

All clubs seem to be having problems getting/choosing a new manager at the moment.

Some of my thoughts,

A month ago we had someone "in the know" at our club stating it would definitely be J.W. in charge next season. We can assume it's not or else it would already be.

No offence to the Fulham fans on here but now we have "insider" knowledge that it is certainly going to be S.P in charge, someone they obviously don't want there.

From what we can work out, our club want S.P, Fulham don't want him and S.P. wants to come here. It's a 3 way Mexican stand off. S.P knows he's not loved at F.F.C but is wanted at A.F.C.B. F.F.C and A.F.C.B know all that as well. There's a whole load of bluffs being called.

The Spurs thing is a complete canard, probably put about by S.P's agent or F.F.C to test our resolve. Levy has sacked Pochettino, then Mourinho, he's peed Spurs fans off with the E.S.L involvement. They've been in "meaningful discussions" with any number of TOP managers to replace J.M. Unless he's finally realised the only way to bring silverware to New White Hart Lane, is to win the Championship in a couple of seasons time, he's not going to appoint S.P. ( not whilst Eddie's available). : )

If it is Scott Parker as our next manager, so be it. I can only support the team the club puts out. He could well be the best ever, he might be the worst, probably somewhere in between. It's Max's decision to endorse or reject their recommendations. I can only voice opinions on who ever is here come the season's kick off. : )

Personally I'd love it to be Eddie but I've got to face it. Eddie and the football we loved, left 18 months before he did : (

They don’t want him there, this seems to be apparent. If they refuse to negotiate the sun down then they are stuck with a manager they don’t really want, and will eventually have to pay him off when they sack him. They have every right to budge, but it would make very little sense for them. The point is that we know his days there are numbered, and we are using this to strengthen our hand during negotiations.
Oh i can see why thy they wouldn't want him there ......but they know that we are desperate to take him......it's not like we're going to walk away now for the sake of a few million......if they hold out they will get their compo.......quite rightly too tbf....if you tap up another club's manager you have to pay compensation.
As much as I dread his appointment the wider implications of this not getting done would be far more worrying.......just pay the money ffs.

That last paragraph hurt but spot on

Whilst I agree that the time being lost is extremely valuable in itself, you have to realise that this applies just as much to FFC as it does AFCB. They can't progress their search for a new manager until SP is safely out of the door and off their payroll. So the standoff is understandable.

In the end we'll probably wait as long as it takes before deciding that FFC have gone as low as they can go with their compensation claims, because one thing's for sure, there is no way they will sack him now ( which is what they should have done, once it became clear that they no longer wanted to work together ).

It's a total mess but I think in the end we'll bite the bullet and pay some compensation, we're just holding out to make that as little as possible, which is understandable. Hopefully we've set an internal deadline for calling a halt to this game of who will blink first and will have a manager in place in time to fully prepare for next season. We do still have time on our side, just about.

I don’t know this for sure, but I’d imagine both clubs will want the manager debacle sorted before the players return for pre-season in 2 weeks

Why unnecessarily spend £3m of your playing budget on compo for a manager?

I was thinking more likely the end of next week. That way it leaves us with another week to get something else sorted. I think the Fulham standoff will be decided one way or another by the end of next week.

The Barnsley manager who is also under contract has a buyout clause.

Ismael, 45, has two years left on his deal at Oakwell and reportedly has a £2m buyout clause with Albion said to be willing to pay the fee after switching their attentions to Ismael after former Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder and ex-Huddersfield Town chief David Wagner ruled themselves out of the running.

So Valerian Ismael for 2m or Scotty Parker for 3.5m......lol.

So Ismael is available for cheaper than Parker. @Topfarrier is going to do his nut! :throw:

EDIT: beat me to it!
