Non - Shard Type Building

err, why?

I think it is a secret plan for when Scott Parker gets us back into the PL, it will be the New Away stand, allowing more home fans in the East Stand.

Something like the view from the old Withdean Stadium where Brighton played, but higher.

Wasn’t it Ellwood who had plans for a relief road near our ground when we went into the Premier League?

Boscombe as an area is a bit of a dump. Bournemouth Town Centre is very poor too, heaven knows what holiday makers think of it.

...haven't lived in Bournemouth since 1994, still do miss the place but some areas have seen a sad decline due to the economy, poor planning, and general neglect.
That said most towns have been hit by brexit, business closures, the poverty trap catching more of society, and some eccentric council ownership...and now Covid has delivered a sort of kick in the teeth for struggling town centres.
The area is still one of outstanding beauty with amazing coastline...just think how things might have been if serious money hadn't been spunked on IMAX...Surf Reefs..and this latest 'Shard' copy seems a strange one too?

Boscombe just needs more reason for people to go to / through there and spend a bit of money from their pocket. Work with some businesses, be they names or small indies, invest in the area with them. Patch up the broken windows as it were, from broken windows theory.

It's a bit more complicated than building a massive white elephant though.

You never know with Boscombe, a regeneration could work. If you look at how the town has changed in the last 20 years the places by the coast like Southbourne have improved massively. This is partly down to council investment - compare the state of Southbourne High Street to Winton, Charminster, Parkstone, etc. and house prices follow.

There's a national trend for people to want to be by the sea as working patterns change and those who've been living in cities won't be put off by Boscombe's reputation.

it was beautiful in the victorian times!

a lot of bournemouth was beautiful then. if you walk through our decrepit town cetnre and look up you see some beautiful buildings hidden under decades of extensions and poorly planned frontage. rather than spaff money up a shard (as I think the Tories say) I'd love to see more of what is happening on a smaller basis with Poole Hill, Bobbys.... There is a nice town hidden there already. we just need to unearth it. These vanity projects (shards, reefs, Imaxes) rarely work.
