Steve Cook

I was sent a link to the highest earners at AFCB a while back and I'm sure it was also posted on here. Post relegation weekly wage:

Begovic - £73k
Lerma - £50k
King - £45k
S Cook - £43
A Smith - £38k
Gosling - £37k
L Cook - £35k
Stanislas - £35k
Danjuma - £28k
Solanke - £27k

Gives a lot of context to transfer and contrast devision making. Lerma, Cook (either) would be off if the right offer comes in and like with Begovic that might not be for a big transfer fee.

I think Cookie deserves a payrise......he earns less than me

Bournemouth are interested in Fulham defender Michael Hector, according to journalist Darren Witcoop on Twitter .

Bournemouth boss Scott Parker is in the hunt for a new centre-back and could reunite with the Jamaica international.
Hector, who is 28-years-old, has fallen down the pecking order at Craven Cottage and may be allowed to leave this summer.
The centre-back joined the London club in 2019 and helped them gain promotion to the Premier League under Parker in his first season.
However, he lost his place in the top flight last term as Fulham slipped back into the Championship.

Hector started his career at Reading and went on to play 63 times for their first-team before he was snapped up by Chelsea in 2015.

He never made a senior appearance during his time at Stamford Bridge but got plenty of game time out on loan with the likes of Eintracht Frankfurt, Hull City and Sheffield Wednesday.

Firstly, apologies if we already have a thread on the legend that is Steve Cook, happy for this to amalgamated with it.

With the onset of COVID I fear we’ve had too many ‘legends’ of this club drift away and sign for another team without correct appreciation. It’s been very sad to see the likes of Charlie Daniels, Dan Gosling, Simon Francis and slightly further back Yann leave in inauspicious circumstances. Reading between the lines I fear Big Steve might be off in the next 48-60 hours. He might not fit in with Parker’s plans and that’s fine, but he should be saluted as one of this clubs all time greats. A stalwart for almost 10 years who has given his all for the red ‘n’ black. I might be wrong, if I’m not, thank you Cookie for the memories.

Strange that Cook not being in the squad is a 'selection decision'. What would need to change for him to be selected? Coming to the same view as others, he doesn't figure in Parker's plans. Maybe an established figure in the team is a threat?

If Steve Cook had been on the bench yesterday it would have meant not bring Gary Cahill into the squad or dropping Ibsen Rossi entirely. With SC having played 90 minutes on Tuesday and the need to bring him back slowly it is possibly as logical as that.

It would. It might be.

Either way one of the centre backs will be surplus to requirements

Looks like they would like him to move on. There have been all these rumours since the start of pre-season but maybe there was always something in it. Also very odd that he wasn't immediately named the club captain by Parker.
