AFC Bournemouth v Barnsley

So...if Barnsley had scored 2.54 goals to our 2.53....they would have got 3 points ?...or is it 3. something points ?
OK I'm extracting the urine...but how nerdy can analysing Football matches become ?

There are so many factors likely to affect things, occurring on the pitch over the 95 minutes.

I think it helps to a certain degree,I doubt anyone relies on it entirely.

Good summary of Saturday's game, however, some of the observations are easy to account for... For example, the overwhelming % for attacking to the left and using Zemura...

Kelly's outlet is predominantly Zemura, whereas Cahill was consistently looking to make things happen all over, be that the long cross field ball (bypassing Kelly), to Smith, or encouraging both Lerma and Pearson to come and collect, or just come closer to make space in behind...

Still, a decent read as per...

A Barnsley fan's view.

"Town full of Tories"

Poor bloke, long way to go to get convincingly beat. We've all been there.

Bit disappointed that Warren Cummings has started following Barnsley and popping up in the background of this guy's videos though.

FANS’ CHANTS AND STADIUM ANNOUNCEMENTS HIGHLIGHT OF DAY

When someone tricking the home club’s stadium announcer into saying ‘happy birthday to Mick Oxlong in the away end’ is - by far - the highlight of the day, you know it has been a tough one on the pitch for Barnsley FC.

That PA announcement was met by much amusement in the press box which must have been replicated in the away end where there seemed little else to smile about as the Reds delivered a dismal display.

I heard that Mick Oxlong thing at half time. It made me laugh that they'd got a southern announcer to do it using the wrong name. We speak proper down here so it's Mike Oxlong. :slap: Pretty sure Mike Botto knew full well what was going on too.

Was that our new goalkeeping coach shouting the odds from the touchline at times during the game?

Just saw this. The new goalkeeping coach, Matt Wells and Gary O’Neil were all on the touch line shouting instructions at some stage. O’Neil comes out for all attacking set plays including corners. Pretty interesting to watch

I'm starting to think that we have a very professional manager and coaching setup for this league ( not to mention probably one of the best squads too ). As long as we can keep the momentum going I think we have a really good opportunity to get promoted this season ( and yes I know, we like The Championship but another spell in the PL is probably required for the type of setup we have now to be sustainable ).

It does all feel a bit different to last season. Best of all is seeing all of the players celebrating every goal together this season. That has been a massive change for the better IMO. If we can keep a good spirit in the squad it should be a massive advantage compared to recent years.

If Scotty has got rid of the off field 'cliques' or. 'camps'. that undoubtedly ' Imo' existed post - Howe Era..then that is a major step because it would have had an effect onfield..so its looking good for the the manager and the new staff in general.
..and the team has every chance of competing with any top two..and maybe winning the title again.

Spot on, it was essential that this happened. In all honesty, I think the cliques had started to develop during Howe's tenure and one of his issues was that he was unable to stop them, which meant disharmony and poor performances in the last 18 months of his time. It must be difficult; our rise was built on a core of people who were friends as well as teammates, who bonded in and out of work; as we got more successful and needed to bring in "better" players, this would start to fracture the group as the newbies would not have been through what the "band of brothers" had.

My Barnsley smell of relegation Im afraid.

To lose wasn't that unexpected but the manner was really worrying. 2 shots that were blocked and 3 poor goals conceded from a defensive point of view, not tracking zemura at all twice and a real keeper howler.

but you were away to the best team in the league. Just make sure you turn up at Stoke

Must have been frustrating coming all that way to support your team and only see them provide two attempts on goal and no shots on target or even a corner taken.

Preferable to the Norwich 6-0 defeat with no real attempts on goal!

It’s funny to see the most complete all-round afcb display since probably Brighton away 5-0 just weeks after one of the worst ever at Norwich.

Barnsley have been quite tight at the back this season but part of their mistakes was due to the blistering display by afcb. However, i will reserve judgement until I see how they get on at Stoke on Wednesday. Momentum works both ways of course.

Ive searched and cannot find, its not on COWS report either. Wonder if the club will respond to request?

Seems odd that the attendance figure hasn’t been shown so far, but this has happened in the past, so imagine if asked and explained why you want to know, they should be helpful.

You could've just counted the empty seats....I mean there couldn't have been that many!.....:grinning:
