Can anyone please tell me if I can listen to Radio Solent Dorset on a smart speaker. Sales assistant at J Lewis said not .. is he right ?

You can listen to Radio Solent. But as soon as the football starts it will switch to a message stating the content is not available or some music. You cannot listen as it using the internet not FM.

How can you listen to the football on Radio Solent?
It is possible, I do it for all matches....unless it is being shown on Sky. I'm not sure what frequency it is but I think it may be 96.1FM, it's just a number I hear over and over again. When something of interest happens in the Cherries' game, I watch Sky prog, which shows all the other games and I keep it muted, but if Sky think it is important enough to broadcast they will show it and at which time I mute Willo and Solent, put volume up on Sky and watch the event for a few seconds and then reverse all I have just told you and continue to listen to Solent. Solent also mention any scores in Saints, Pompey and a few local sides .... when they receive them!
I can't afford a ST nowadays and I used to go on a coach for the away games but I'm afraid it's too long a journey nowadays, I'm a pensioner, it pays for my car insurance. As a kid in the v early 50's I'd cycle to DC, park my bike under the trees, use the stinking wc's and cycle the 4-5 mile's home.
UTC Cardiff Giants 1 Cherries, more.

103.8 FM in Dorset. (Unless you live in a valley in West Dorset)
96.1 FM in East Dorset and Hampshire - only if Southampton or Portsmouth aren't playing.
BBC Solent online for FACup games.
Digital TV carries commentaries.

Otherwise you have to pay for AFCBtv a buy a pass to listen online.

TalkSport have the rights for Championship (online on Talksport2 through their App). Occasionally cover our matches.

Have I missed anything?

I have tried all sorts of apps but have never found a way of listening online without a radio. Bought an £8 radio and that solves the problem if I'm in range.

Freesat may work, as that has all regional TV and Radio.

Someone clever could Re-Broadcast from B'mouth over the web, and then give you the web address.

Or, Just get IPTV and watch any game you like, It's probably easier than doing all the other stuff.

the flashscore app (which is great btw) has audio commentary for some games, including ours today. never tried it, but an option that should work anywhere.

When I first moved to Dubai and games weren’t available to watch, I had a DAB radio plugged into my dads PC at home and streamed it to myself. He just started the shortcut I put on the desktop for him before leaving to watch the game.
