Non RIP Jimmy Greaves

A Real Legend of Football.
Striker extraordinaire for Chelsea, briefly AC Milan, Spurs and West Ham
. Played a big part in England's 66 campaign before injury.
My favourite all-time player ( outside of Boscombe of course).

Along with Ray Bumstead Jim was my boyhood sporting hero. Living so far away from that London, to see him play live was just a dream. Maybe we’ll get through to the 3rd round I used to think, and get drawn at home to Spurs. Eventually, 1965 maybe, my best mate Rob, a Utd. fan, and I had a day trip to the City, queued up for around 2 hours and got in to see that wonder goal in a 5-1 Spurs thrashing.
Etched in my memory. RIP sir.

Here you go, 16th October 1965. Over 58,000 crammed in at WHL. Must have been bloody fantastic.

When I was a little kid, learning how to play football down the park or in the school playground, the player I always wanted to be was Jimmy Greaves.

RIP Jimmy.

AFC Bournemouth are mourning the loss of former player Tony Scott, a member of the club's first promotion in 1970/71, who passed away earlier this week.

Boxing Day, Wednesday 26 December 1962: we're staying in London for Christmas and go to White Hart Lane to see Spurs play Ipswich (who had earlier won the league - old Division 1). It was the first day of the "Great Freeze" that saw the season postponed for months. When the game started snow was falling - by halftime the pitch was a skating rink. Greaves? He played like a master, hitting three and leaving defenders on their backsides left and right. Superb goalscorer - a "player for all seasons".

I think you'll find your post merged onto the Tony Scott thread that was raised previously
I have looked back through the pages and can't see the TS thread for some reason.
When I used the thread search button it comes up.

just checked again through the latest pages and it still isn't there.
