Brentford

Also highlights from the thread.
"loss of £9m is actually one of the better financial results to date in the 2019/20 Championship, only surpassed by Hull City’s £3m profit. Even before the pandemic, many clubs lost more than £20m, while #LUFC and #Boro reported losses of £62m and £36m last year."

"The #BrentfordFC financial challenge is highlighted by the fact that their £14m revenue was third lowest in the Championship, only above Preston £13m and Wigan £12m, so they hugely punched above their weight. For context, only around 20% of clubs with parachute payments (£71m)."

When they punch above their weight it’s lauded, when we do it...oooooh c-c-c-cheats!

**************** FFP.

Interesting thoughts from the watch-tapping bellend....

“I could ask him what he would have done if he was leading a newly-promoted team. We are just a bus stop in Hounslow, playing against Wolves, established in the Premier League and with 10 times our budget, leading 2-0 away, 10 versus 11. I think his players would lose a bit of time also."

Never really had an issue with Brentford; found most of their supporters OK, liked the ground and surrounds. Of all our historical Third Division rivals they were not the ones I would hope would lose every match by at least five. For the record, those teams are many: Biscuits, Gillyhoof and Seaweed in the first instance, Gas, Swinedon and Gargoyle in the second.

But just one man, just one set of exaggerated touchline gestures and Brentford have joined the group of the damned.

Yeah the watch tapping was really annoying, but at least he was doing something about it, rather than appear to passively let time wasting go on.

Most teams do whatever they can in their power to influence the game in their favour to one degree or another.

I'm sure most of us would have been ok with it, even praising our manager if we were to do it.

Good on Brentford and their fans. Never had grief from Bees supporters at Griffin Park - a bunch just like us, with decades in old Div 3 when they longed to play in the Big League. Well run club, effective recruitment, got a good ground now … what’s the point being sour about them??

My best friend is a Bees fan and I want them to do really well. I actually think they'll stay up comfortably this season if Toney stays fit .

If Ivan Toney does a Fr*ser then they will be in trouble.
Not this season, still flying on the adrenaline of promotion.

Next season, when he starts getting ideas, will be a different matter.

Knowing Brentford, they'll probably sell Toney for about £50 million, and get a perfect replacement in for about £5 million.

Thinking back, we should have sold Callum when he was at his peak, and done something similar.

We missed out on Toney and on Ollie Watkins when both were scoring for fun in a lower league and both were affordable. We signed Ibe and Mousset ... oh well!

Yeah, although easy to say now. If we had gone down that season without him, plenty would have kicked off at what a bad decision it was to sell.

Wolves’ fans not happy with Brentford’s antics at the weekend apparently….
According to one of the Bees lads at work who went at the weekend , the Wolves fan’s forums were calling Brentford “ a tinpot little club , bunch of cheats just like Bournemouth were “
Excellent, still full of “ we were once a big club and therefore should automatically beat teams like you “ entitlement
