non [ Ted Lasso ]

contrary to herd belief
GoT wasn’t utterly shite for the last 2 seasons.
Just rewatched the whole thing - and it is all bloody excellent.
The problem with the final series of GoT wasn't what they did, it's how they did it. So rushed that some of the changes in character wasn't fleshed out enough. They could've done an epic season of the battle of Winterfell then followed it up with events at Kings Landing. Visually it was superb, but too rushed.

If you watch GoT and ;just' watch it without analysing it then it's bloody brilliant... If you try to over analyse things then you might find NWCherries98's description slightly more accurate...

I really enjoyed it for start to finish. Hadn't read a word in book and thought some of the battle scenes in the end seasons were breathtaking...

You don’t need to overanalyse anything about S8 to notice the drop in quality lol. The battle scenes were breathtaking but the writing was ass.

Leftovers is in my tv all time top 5 - maybe even no1
thought the whole thing was magnificent
season 3 was perfection
and it’s all back up on sky

Assuming The Wire and The Sopranos take up 2 of the other spots? Top 5 is impossible if it's not limited to dramas over 1 season. Including one offs, things like Band of Brothers simply can't miss out.

Thought rovers was a good comedy show about football and better than Ted lasso but only 1 season and on sky 1 in 2016.
Another show I liked was ‘to old to die young’
And obviously you have the usual top show like Sopranos, breaking bad and the wire, sharpes series and the books are very good
A good cop show about dirty cops is the shield

Veering off the topic slightly I caught up with the Toby Jones movie about the kit man at Stoke at the weekend. Beautiful little film full of humour pathos and a real feelgood ending.

Marvellous ................great film, check it out you we not be disappointed.

I just saw it as another 'Lost' and I wasn't sure I wanted to spend another 7 years of my life invested in something that didn't really make sense...

Which is the problem with so many US shows... You get into them and then they're never to be seen again... It's the one thing British drama does well... Short series' of 6 ish episodes and maybe a handful, maximum, of series'...
Lost made a lot of sense. Very cleverly devised. You had to watch it all to appreciate it.

As with a lot of JJs work, he throws mystery into his work without ever actually planning what the answer is. EG Polar bears, smoke etc. It looked good and weird but ultimately meant nothing. Amazingly, he tried the same thing with Star Wars thinking it could be made up as it went along, somehow missing the point over Star Wars canon and fans. So then ending up with a mess of a trilogy when it could easily have been written in one go rather than movie to movie.
