Championship 21/22

Just looking at October's fixtures. We seem to be building up a head of steam but next month could give us some idea of where we are as we head towards the normal crazy Xmas fixtures. Some tasty looking games coming up.

I really like what I am seeing, not only the wins but the way we are doing it.

However, I have flashbacks to 2018 (20 points in first 10 games and then 10 points in the next 13 games). It turned around almost overnight.

Not saying it will happen again, but I hope to see more solid performances to convince me that we are for real. Looking good so far .............

Weird one as player taps the ball away just before he lashes out with his leg. Doesn;t look like he would have got the ball anyway even if the player didn;t do that, so who knows. But seems an extreme thing to do, looks aggressive if not going for the ball?

Dangerous but without intent to injury the player .

Maybe that saved him?

Really? I thought they could ban anyone if an offense was deemed bad enough. That's nuts if they can't. That particular incident is practically assault.

You can't have a retrospective ban if he was given a yellow

Reading set to receive a points deduction over Financial Fair Play
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...points-deduction-breaching-efl-finance-rules/

Reading are locked in talks with the Football League over a points deduction which is likely to plunge them into a Championship relegation battle.

Negotiations between Reading and the EFL are understood to be at an advanced stage, with an agreed sanction close to being finalised over breaches of financial rules.

It is understood that Reading, currently 14th in the table, are facing a potential deduction of six to nine points, which will drop them into a relegation scrap if, as expected, the punishment is applied later this year.

Like crisis-hit Derby County, Reading are working to the EFL’s regulation 85 in their sanctions, which allows both parties to strike an amicable settlement and avoid going before a disciplinary commission. Reading will also have to agree on a future business plan.

In July it was announced that Reading had broken the EFL's profit and sustainability rules and they were placed under a transfer embargo, which restricted them to signing only free agents and loans during the summer window.

The rules do not allow clubs to exceed losses of £39 million over a three-year assessment period, but it appears Reading’s accounts have breached that amount by some distance.

This all the while the situation at Derby goes from bad to worse, with administration likely to be formally announced shortly over debts of 50m, 30m of which is owed to HMRC (the worst possible creditor in a CVA you might remember).

Hate to think what Lerma would have got for doing that...... loving the Luton player giving the poor lad a mouthful while he was on the floor!

Apparently you don’t have to pay HMRC in full anymore, minimum 25p in the pound. According to Alan Nixon anyway

Well I hate to say it but if they carry on like this we'll never play them again.

Looking forward to seeing if QPR can be a bit more creative with their excuses.....rather than the usual ...' it's not fair their goalkeeper keeps getting in the way of our shots' / ' their players keep trying to tackle ours why isn't the ref stopping them'? /we'd have won that if they hadn't scored more than us.
If they need any inspiration they need only look at the master Neil Warnock who came out with a beauty this week.... apparently the reason they lost was because some of their players missed breakfast!!.....:grinning:

With Derby and Reading already gone, I wonder if this will be an administration domino season?

If clubs know it looks likely in the next couple of years, rather than soldier on and try to fight it maybe they might think it'll be better to take the points penalty this season? Less chance of getting relegated if there are a number with the same deduction. Plus they can all lay it at the door of Covid.

This could end up being a very messy season!

Its not a completely ridiculous suggestion.
