The grapes are sour in Nottingham

No such Club as Notts Forest - 100% agree - Whingy, Whiney, Wanderers - now that fits much better. It's a trades description thing - plus no Forest in Nottingham - tricky trees - you'd be hard pushed to find a thicket or a copse. I'm sure there must be a lemon tree at the City Ground though.

There’s a chant for when we go there. Have you ever seen a tree?

What a weird bunch. It's like a wrestling storyline: new upstart trying to make a name for themselves begins to start shite with everyone.

Nottingham Forest have signed Nigeria forward Taiwo Awoniyi from Union Berlin for a club-record fee in the region of £17.5m.

The 24-year-old joins Forest from the Bundesliga club on a five-year deal and becomes the newly-promoted Premier League side's first international signing of the summer.

Awoniyi scored 20 goals in 43 games across all competitions last season. His 15 goals in 31 Bundesliga matches also helped Union Berlin secure a fifth-place finish and qualification for the Europa League for the first time since 2001/2002.

Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Liverpool right-back Neco Williams and Wolves midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White.

Forest are in the market for a right-back following the end of Djed Spence’s loan from Middlesbrough.

Gibbs-White has played under Steve Cooper before. He was on loan at Swansea City when Cooper was in charge.

Forest's hopes of signing Mainz defender Moussa Niakhate are receding. The clubs have so far failed to come to an agreement on a fee.

I really hope they don't sign either of them two. MG-W & Neco Williams would be quality additions, bouth young and would be able to sell without a big risk of loss if relegation were to happen. I saw their approach for Williams mentioned again today and Liverpool are holding out for 15 million.

I am still unconvinced by them. Norwich looked to have made some good signings last year but it was a false dawn. We know ourselves that new players can flatter to deceive in the premier league.

The problem for Forest will be the same as with us when we first got promoted, squad depth.
Once the pitches get heavy and the injuries bite,do they have quality to replace with?
None of their signings are proven Premier League players, they are gambles that they have spent a lot of money on.
Also as said above, they are only replacing the quality they have lost in loan players.

No, thats not right. I know several Forest supporters and they have their sights on the top 10, not mere survival. Apparently under a magical manager they won the European Cup twice and despite not being in the top league for 23 years they have it sussed.

TBF the magical signings of Surridge and Cook have me convinced, together with their managerial team with a chasm of experience in the PL.

The arrogance of some of their fans last season, thinking they had beaten us to second place before the game kicked off at Dean Court, did wind me up.
I agree with them about the business they have done, signing players who should appreciate in value. Neco Williams and Henderson on loan are great signings. I'm unconvinced by the 2 signed from Germany, but they have strengthened and they really needed too.
I am happy with our approach and I think the squad that went up is good enough to survive BUT we need to replace the departed. Woodman (back up for Travers), Phillips (come back or get an alternative), Cahill (we need 2 QUALITY centre backs), Laird (how good is Fredericks?) and Davis (it's too much responsibility for JZ not to have any competition at LB).
If the club don't want to risk investing huge money on players then we should look at getting loans in.
