AFCB Need A Home Win

With the Norwich game another poor result and losing a key player after 31 minutes to a red card in Steve Cook. He will miss our next game which is an evening match against Brighton at Dean Court, It will be only 24 days ago since the sides met in our away game. When we met them last time at our ground back in the 2018-9 season, the Cherries had won 1 and lost 6 of their previous Premier League games. This season we have lost our last three games, scoring 0 and conceding 8. The last win at Dean Court in the Premier League was back on the 2nd November 2019 when we beat Manchester United 1-0 with that special goal from Josh King. Our team now desperately need a home win to get vital points and restore confidence.

Brighton since their home win against the Cherries, have drawn at home 1-1 with Chelsea, lost 1-0 away against Everton and drew at home 1-1 with Aston Villa.

Last season at Dean Court AFCB beat Brighton 2-0 and also won the away fixture later 0-5, completing the double over the team from Sussex.

This season Brighton have already beaten us at their place by 2-0, let’s hope they don’t get the double. In all our league meetings at Dean Court AFCB have Won 25 Drawn 17 & Lost 10. In all competitions AFCB have Won 43 Drawn 29 & Lost 39.

AFCB Team News
Lloyd Kelly played 60 minutes for the Under 21 side, so is slowly getting closer to the first team squad. Otherwise on the injury front there is no change except Jefferson Lerma been playing not fully fit. The bad news, we will miss the services of Steve Cook in the centre of defence due to suspension.

AFCB Player To Watch
Very difficult to pick someone out of a side performing poorly. Will Eddie stick to the same hoping Callum Wilson will come good? Maybe take a chance and give young Surridge a start. Another player who deserves a chance after the failings of some of our other midfielders is Surman. Experience with youth and rest one or two who have been out of sorts rather than hope game after game they will come good.

Brighton Team News
Dan Burn has a shoulder injury, Leon Balogun out with thigh injury and Jose Izquierdo has knee injury.

Brighton Player To Watch
At their place Aaron Mooy ran the show. Their young striker signed from Brentford Neal Maupay hasn’t scored for since their away game against Palace back in December.

The Referee
Kevin Friend, we had him for our first home game of the season against Sheffield United. VAR is watched by Darren England.

CHERRIES: EH says recruitment work continues in the background. No additions before #BHAFC game, but will work hard during break from PL football to bring someone in. #afcb

CHERRIES: Jefferson Lerma (knee) continues to battle through pain barrier to play. Lloyd Kelly (thigh) will be treated delicately in terms of PL involvement. Steve Cook serves one-match ban.

...heard we might be getting a few in:

Steve McQueen (Escape Expert).....Houdini (Technical Advisor).....Winston Churchill (Motivational Speaker)....Arthur Scargill (Top Striker)....and a young lad from Bethlehem who apparently can perform miracles?
What an eclectic mix ! Sure they could do a job ...

Backs to the Wall...or Whacks to the Ball ?
That is the Question.
Play safe...or Get it in their half?

We dont know how to play safe ..tapping it around....so its Push and Run for me! Bang and Chase....with the Crowd on a Full Derby Hostility Rant!

Is Uri Geller on the bench? ...... heard he's pretty good at bending the ball !

We have to get some creativity in midfield. Lerma and Billing can't play someone in on goal to save their lives. Lewis Cook or Harry Wilson need to play in a creative role in the centre. It's all very well complaining about Wilson and Fraser etc but they are not getting the ball at pace up the field, Wilson has never been a hold up type of forward but he is having to do that as no one plays him a ball into him on the shoulder of the last man.

------------Ramsdale--------------
Smith-----Francis----Ake-----Rico
----L. Cook---Surman---Lerma----
-------------H. Wilson-------------
--------Fraser--------Wilson--------

Subs: Boruc, Simpson, Billing, Gosling, Dobre, Solanke, Surridge
Funny you writing that just as I was writing mine. Could quite happily go with that.

Personally h Wilson has to play in the hole as previously said we have no creativity there.
I would personally gamble and throw maybe Dobre one side and Fraser the other to Wilson .
Look with Harry Wilson he can pick out a pass , and with the likes of the pace of Fraser and Wilson we would look more of a threat .

Chance to Compare Aaron Mooy with Billings ,Which is the best ex Huddersfield mid fielder?
...didn't you witness their last encounter?...no brainer Brighton got the better deal for sure IMO...I reckon if we had a choice of buying Kane or Jansen back along we would have got in the latter!

Stop this comparison. Completely different types of player. It’s like comparing Lerma to Wilshere. BTW one good game against AFCB does make you a good player. We’d all be raving about this Billings, whoever he is, if he played against our current team.

This is seaweed. I feel incredibly and absolutely confident we are going to take 3 points from this game. Short break between games, not much time for them to focus on adapting their game to our rather predictable style. Ramsdale was on fire in Norwich. If there is a team we should have confidence against, given last year, it is Brighton. As long as our defenders don’t try to play goalie and, this is the big one, our forwards and wings understand it is not illegal to shoot: this is the game we turn it around. Last month was the first time seaweed has beaten us in 12 matches. A fluke. Don’t give up a goal in the first two minutes and let normalcy restore. Finally, a night to celebrate. We simply do not lose to seaweed at home on a weekday night. Doesn’t happen, won’t happen.
