AFC Bournemouth v Chelsea

It’s all well and good everyone naming wide players who score for other clubs, like Salah and Mane......

But we don’t play that way..... we tippy tap, left to right across the oppo 18yard area, rinse repeat, and our wide players are still out wide.

Hoof into Callum and the on rushing Gosling....... tip tap tip tap...... give up possession, rinse repeat.

Last home game we were more direct and not so much playing around at the back as we had been seeing.

To a certain extent Eddie went back to the way we were playing when we first went up and the pundits said you can’t do that in the PL.

in which case there's no point playing King in that position either.

I think being direct is key on Saturday. Not our chosen style but with the wind and rain forecast get the ball in the box , if that's the case and we do that then get King in the mixer and put H Wilson wide to get the ball in. We don't really have that many options so the lineup, formation and general style of play won't change much from previous matches. Just high press, don't give them anytime on the ball, make sure we're first to the second balls and be direct when we attack. Who knows we might just pull off a shock.
They're beatable and have shown that. Let's make it as uncomfortable for them as possible. Get the crowd screaming for every foul, every challenge, get behind them when we're defending.

Tempo with passing, pressing as a unit, mixed passes, tippy tappy stuff plus longer stuff to hit the channels. Keep them guessing.

Work together.

That’s all we ask, whoever is selected in whatever formation.

From Chelsea OS.

Bournemouth have won three and lost one of their last four Premier League meetings with Chelsea. They’re looking to complete the league double over us for the first time.

We have failed to score in three of our last four games against the Cherries.

Each of the last 12 Premier League goals in Bournemouth vs Chelsea matches have come in the second half.

In the reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge on 14 December, Dan Gosling scored the solitary goal in the 84th minute. It was originally disallowed for offside but overturned by VAR.

From COWS, re injuries to Nathan Ake and Jefferson Lerma, plus others.

Howe, speaking this morning at his pre-match press conference, confirmed both players had trained this week and could be available for selection.

He added: “Nathan has trained this week so, hopefully, should be okay providing there are no ill effects from his head injury.

“It’s a similar case with Jeff and he has come through a couple of days’ training.”

Meanwhile, Howe said long-term injury victims David Brooks, Arnaut Danjuma, Chris Mepham and Lloyd Kelly were all progressing well.

He said: “They are running on grass but haven’t joined us in training yet. Chris is a bit behind the others and they are improving quite quickly.

Thanks Billy. Encouraging news about David, Lloyd and Arnaut.

Is anybody actually worried about this game? Sure we could play like crap and lose, but we match up fairly well with them, they haven't been setting the world on fire and it's Chelsea...our fav PL team. I don't think thee is anybody else in the league I'd rather play. :)

Noooooooooooooooooooooooo!

I’d go for...

Stacey—Cook—Ake—Smith
—————L.Cook
———-Billing—Lerma
King————————Fraser
—————Wilson

Bit loathed to put Fraser in, but pace down both flanks with some full backs on the break could be key.

He won’t drop Gosling or Francis. I’d love to see that but we wont. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Franno in at right back, he’ll want to fit him and Cook in with Ake. And we’ll suffer for it

Francis and Gosling both played when we won at theirs, also there was no Ake that day.

True. But Franno at right back is a different prospect entirely
He's not going to play Franno at RB when Stacey and Smith are fit .....he only play's there when there's no other option.... Not saying he won't squeeze him in by playing a back 3 though!...:grinning:
