Another Hard Game Against an in Form Side

Now undefeated in our last two Championship games after a rather uninspiring draw away against an in form Nottingham Forest. Forest at least had three shots on target out of 10 attempts, against no shots on target for AFCB out of 4 attempts, but the Cherries did have 63% possession. That was Jonathan Woodgate’s third game in charge, which also gave us a home win in the Championship and a win in the FA Cup against Burnley. As things stand J W will be in charge of our next game.

The next game is back at home at Dean Court next Wednesday at 8.15 pm on Sky against one of the form teams away from home Rotherham United (the Millers) who have won their last three away games. AFCB met them earlier in the season at the New York Stadium, which ended in a 2-2 draw, their goals coming from a brace from Freddie Ladapo and our goals from a penalty by Junior Stanislas and the other goal from Dominic Solanke. At the time after 14 games the Cherries were 2nd in the table with 27 points, one point behind leaders Norwich City. Rotherham United were in 19th place on 13 points.

Going into our game on Wednesday evening, AFCB after 29 games are in 6th place on 46 points, with Rotherham after 27 games in 21st position on 29 points. This will be the Millers first game since Tuesday last week, as their home game on Saturday against QPR was postponed because of a frozen pitch.

Since our away game against the Millers, in their away games they lost the next three games, Coventry City 3-1, Watford 2-0 and Blackburn Rovers 2-1. Then came the first of their three match win run, beating Derby County 0-1, Middlesbrough 0-3 and in their last away game Preston 1-2. At home since the November game, the Millers have W 2, D 1, L 4.

The last time we met Rotherham United at Dean Court was in September 2014, it ended in a 1-1 draw, both goals came from headers, the first after 60 minutes by Steve Cook for the Cherries and Bowery equalised for the Millers after 93minutes in injury time.

In our home games against them, AFCB have W 11, D 6, L 3.

In all competitions, AFCB have W 18, D 10, L 14.

AFCB Team News
Dominic Solanke and now Steve Cook our captain will be missing after picking up a groin injury at Nottingham. Chris Mepham missed the away game after getting kicked in training.

AFCB Player To Watch
At the moment our goals look like coming from one of our wingers, either Arnaut Danjuma or Junior Stanislas.

Rotherham United Team News
Their Scottish midfielder Jamie Lindsay will be missing with a hamstring injury.

Rotherham United Player To Watch
Two players to watch, Matt Crooks their attacking midfielder who has a free role and has scored 6 goals and has 2 assists in the Championship, he also won the Championship player of the month for January, his best mate is their forward and leading scorer Michael Smith with 7 goals and 3 assists.

Another tough game. We will have to get everything right to win this one. Something will need to change after that performance against Forest.
If our only other goal threat is from our wingers, surely we have to start Surridge ahead of Long ? He has a record of scoring goals for us and it looks like with Solanke out we have to play our next best option. Surridge could get that one goal that makes the difference in this game. I'm sure there will be a temptation to try to give Long more time playing with his new team but I don't feel that we have that luxury any more. We have to hoover up every available point from here on in !

Without hearing any update as of yet, it seems as if S. Cook and Pearson are set to miss Wednesday's game, with Mepham also unlikely to feature after pulling out of the Forest squad.

Kelly and CCV looked rather solid despite not having to deal with much so I imagine to see the same defence.

I thought it was harsh to leave L. Cook out on Saturday so no doubt he'll be back.

Surridge finally deserves his league start ahead of Long.

Riquelme returns to the bench.

Begovic
Smith CCV Kelly Rico
L. Cook Lerma
Wilshere
Danjuma Surridge Stanislas

Bench: Travers, Stacey, Zemura, Billing, Kilkenny, Brooks, Riquelme, Anthony, Long

We probably won't start Surridge...because at some point ..he might score...and that means they might feel obliged to play him again ..instead of playing something that cost an inflated transfer fee.
Once you get labelled as a 'makeweight' at this Stargazy set up..that's it...you don't get used as merit deserves....his 1950s sounding name and Caucasian appearance doesn't ' fit ' the criteria of 'upwardly mobile' or ' exotic' thinking..same with Woodgate I daresay...and was with Tindall.

Something ending 'a or 'o...or 'i or ario...or inho....or 'uma...or 'ico.. or ' erma... is the trend.

..not 'idges or 'gates or ' indalls...or 'urmans
or goslingish!

Does that seem a bit off the mark or flippant or a Brit or 'little Englander' getting outrageously cynical..
Its f√cking not you know...its how it is !

Has anybody told Adam Smith yet?

That's not "how it is" at all. Shane Long is the one taking Surridge's place at the moment (wrongly in my view, hope Surridge starts tonight). He's as Caucasian as they come and from the exotic isle or...Ireland.

You're gonna need to make up yet another example to try and fit your painfully see-through agenda.
