Andoni Iraola

But as we already know Neil, you won't name the manager, or signings that you would magically make to turn it all around.
I’ve named loads Trev. One was Marco Silva… wonder what happened to him. Currently I’d look at Andoni Iraola, 40 years old, who has achieved wonders at two non big names in Spain, notably taking Real Vallecano up and into 10th spot. Great nurturer of talent. Played two years for New York in MLS so speaks good English.

"ran on the fumes" of a manager you relentlessly slagged off at every opportunity, that's rich

no doubt by now you've done extensive research so time to put your nuts on the table, who would be an acceptable appointment to you?
Ran on the fumes doesn’t mean I rated his predecessor. Just that the team were clearly setting up the same way and playing similarly non expansive football and rarely gambling anyone forwards unless losing.

It’s not my job to identify future managerial talent but your suggestion is unless a fan can find them they don’t exist. I’d never heard of Thomas Frank had you?

If I was to have a punt though I’d bust a gut to sign Andoni Iraola who is 40 and has done an incredible Eddie style job at Real Vallecano and speaks English after his stint in New York.

Also, irritating though he was on the touch line against us I might examine Chris Martin through an interview process before Norwich nab him.

There’s a couple others in Italy but i don’t want to bore you all any more than I normally do.

I didn't say fan, I said would-be head of recruitment
you once claimed your son could find better players trolling through FIFA so it isn't a huge leap
I don't particular rate Frank, nice watch but his hair is shite (and I think he's just about run his course)

thanks for the list, please do add those Italian chaps though
good to know if any of that lot get appointed they'll get your backing and you'll be super happy with the recruitment process

Alessio Dionisi at US Sassuolo and Davide Nicola at Salernitana. Again both ‘miracle’ workers in the Eddie mode.

What makes them miracle workers? I’ve spent 30 seconds on wiki and neither seem to stay at a job very long?

Ten seconds on Wiki (below) I watch a lot of European football and the ones I’ve mentioned are coaches I admire for football they play at smaller clubs. They haven’t succeeded in every job but not many Burnley fans were sad to see Eddie go. They just have something I admire and I was asked for my subjective opinion on who I’d go for.

Was just intrigued and couldn’t spot the context as his record statistics look rather mediocre.

Looking at Serie A however the PPG it’s vastly different to the Premier League. A record needed to just about stay up here sticks you comfortably mid table in Italy.

Just thought that highlighted the competitiveness of the Premier League.

Interesting that Leeds have got Andoni on a three man shortlist with Corberan and Ange at Celtic. Andoni is a man who’s career I’ve tracked for a few years… very Eddie Howe.

Still, our board will be looking at whoever is coaching our under 18’s

How come them just looking at people is enough for praise from you but our board speaking to De Zerbi and Bielsa isn't?

Corberan took a ridiculously low budget Huddersfield side into the play off final and had moved West Brom from relegation candidates to play off positions in months making players that looked awful look great.

Comparing GON’s managerial ability to his is like comparing my pulling ability to Harry Styles’s.

He also coached under Bielsa and was loved by the players. Andoni Iraola is like a younger Bielsa with a similar style. Hence the two links for a club so fond of Bielsa.

Anyway, they are mad, there must be an Under 15 coach at Elland Road that can get them up for a PL relegation battle.

Who knows but I expect afcb are a tough sell at this stage - same for players as managers. Big risk of relegation with or without GON so why have that on your CV. Different with a takeover pre season when would have had more time or knowing you are starting in champ with a great squad.

I read Knutsen wouldn’t move mid season and I expect others are similar.

Funny that leeds are looking for a new manager and their choices aren’t that inspiring while some afcb fans suggesting big Sam, Ralph or Nuno.

Hardly inspiring is it?
There are a few brilliant young managers in Europe of which Andoni Iraola is one, on Leeds shortlist. The Spanish Eddie Howe. Would he work here, who knows but he speaks perfect English and has achieved wonders at two unfashionable small sides. That’s who we should be aiming at and there are others. We are just amateur in approach not in resources.

Well Foley apparently has a reputation for only going for the best (players and managers) if his track record in the US is anything to go by.

there are plenty of young good managers in Europe but they would be packing up their life and moving here to get a relagation on their cv and maybe the sack in 6 months if it takes time to implement their style, it's a huge risk and a very hard sell It seems like you forget this sometimes.
Everton, Leeds and Southampton are a easier sell to managers as they are bigger clubs, Everton and saints are established PL clubs and Leeds are a big club, we might of spent a few seasons in PL but we're a risk whether we can compete.
I would like someone like the West brom manager who would buy into the long project and build something here but its hard to get the right fit, also if you think foley wants a big name manager (not top name but big name) then maybe he wouldn't want to risk it on a young up and coming manager

And therein lies the problem (or at least one of them). Who’s going to want to come to a tinpot club that sacks managers after two months..

Andoni Iraola is the guy I’ve always wanted… from Rayo Vallecano. Was headed to Leeds but it fell through. The Spanish Eddie Howe who worked a miracle with poor players and no budget.

Apparently he has three offers on the table come summer. One can only hope….
