Andoni Iraola

How’s he ‘f****d’ us if he ends up going to Palace?

He's done 3 years here, announced in advance he’s going (which is what you said he should do), but now depending on where he goes next he’s done us over?

Good luck to the bloke wherever he ends up, it hasn’t even crossed my mind he’s f*****d us over. Far from it.

We’ve got Rose coming in. What’s the problem?

I didn't say he's fucked us over I said he's fucked us off.. meaning to leave or discard someone or something.

Palace is a sideways step in every conceivable way. If he goes there I for one won't be one cheering him from the rafters when he comes back with them. I absolutely loved Jeff Lerma but running his AFCB contract down to move to Palace? Not for me.

He’d have to f*** us off at some stage though? He’s been clear he wants to move on whilst things are all good with the club and end on a high.

What about Villarreal? Believe their manager has announced he’s leaving and they’re in Champions League next season.
They could fit the brief - definitely back to being as good as any in Spain bar the big 2. Small family Club in a very small Town - great Academy and a very nice quieter part of the Country. Andoni seems to like the small Club vibe - or at least he has up til now.
Personally I v much hope he goes back to Spain for his family’s sake. It would certainly be v odd to see him here in the away dugout.

If there’s one club in the premier league that’s been shafted, it’s Fulham imo. Still no announcement from them on Silva’s future.

Yes and if he moves up in the world then fair enough (although there aren't many PL clubs I would be wishing him well at tbh) but if he's decided AFCB no longer match his ambitions... but Crystal Palace do? Come on, even the 'he fulfilled his contract' fetishists and the 'he obviously wants to be closer to Gatwick Airport' apologists would be struggling with that one.

If we qualify for Europe then maybe AI would have wanted to stay for one more year, who knows?
I sort of think, he just doesn't want to get stale , stay too long...

Anyway, good luck to him wherever he goes. Hate to see him in the away dugout next season though.

I'm shocked that I didn't even notice Brennan Johnson played for Palace on Sunday. I had to check, he did play for them and wasn't substituted.

Always thought he was OK when he played for Forest..
Hes a good player. People who keep saying hes useless are basing it on a few bad/mediocre performances.

He has shed loads of potential/ability.

Can't see it. He's confident in himself. He'll be just fine.

Yep. Intelligent, confident, analytical. He wont regret it or beat himself up, even if he ends up at a 'mediocre' club or finishes below us or not in europe next year.

People like that are confident that they made a decision at a moment in time for the right reasons, after prolonged serious consideration. Doesnt mean its 100% guarenteed to work out better. Its an educated judgement call.

Polar opposite to impulsive, acting on feelings.

Waste of time and energy regretting near enough anything imo. Learning from stuff to help make future decisions is more useful and likely.

That's how I see it.

That Oakmead education made us both grounded...almost normal. ;)

I don't think it will happen but it's not inconceivable that Andoni takes some time out and waits for the manager merry go round before taking another job.
Personally, I don't think Carrick will last if he gets the job.

Carrick doesnt have the managerial stature, track record to buy him more time to ride out any semi serious dip in form imo.

He'll have to do exceptionally well to keep his head above water and avoid being moved on (relatively cheaply too, in scheme of tbings).

The club had probably known his intentions at the turn of the year to leave….and since then been looking at future options, henceforth a successor has been tied down to hopefully make the transition smooth and seamless… now I don’t really care a jot where Iraola ends up…he soon will be history to all of us anyway!
We move on and who knows we could be even better?…whatever the new season will be interesting…as it ALWAYS is at AFCB…

From what I’m told, the overriding factor in his decision was his desire not to spend too long at any one club. There were other factors in play as well, he and his family are attracted to the prospect of living in London for example, but the main reason is that he just doesn’t see himself as an Eddie type who will oversee a multi-year project. He’s unlikely to have regrets, it’s just not his style to stick around long term. Expect similar at his next club.

According to reports he has been offered a new contract, but as yet he hasn’t signed it and may be moving on at the end of the season.
