Andoni Iraola

I have always respected whoever has been at helm of our club from day one of my supporting life here.

John Bond - Built an exciting team which carried my dreams of us escaping the old Division Three.
Trevor Hartley/John Benson - Took over at the difficult transition time after Bond’s departure.
Alec Stock - Wise old head who steadied us.
David Webb - Diamond geezer who gave us some fun getting us out of Divvy Four.
Don Megson - Never ignited the club but was a hard working guy.
I’ll skip a few temporary or short term types like Finnegan etc.
Harry Redknapp - Brilliant man manager, getting the very best out of top club rejects like Cooke, Aylott and Newson. Promotion under him was fantastic and a huge thing back then. Unfortunately fate conspired against us and along with the tragic accident when he lost his close friend Brian Tiler, it all ended when relegation came.
Tony Pulis - Truly tough baptism for him after our free fall into financial abyss. I was very much ‘we want Pulis out’ but with hindsight he had little chance to find any hope after Harry went.
Again a bit of brain fog as to what happened after?
Mel Machin - Pivotal in helping us to rebound from despair, a magnificent escape from relegation! A Wembley appearance was truly historic! Will always be a special person in our history for what he did for the club as player and manager. Winter Gardens including.
Sean O’Driscoll - Often much maligned, but probably was the most dedicated manager we ever had? We played some superb football under him and that Play off Final will always be in the memory!
… the following years were bleaker with our continuing economic freefalling!
Kevin Bond - Somewhat robotic in his strategy, but so nearly kept us up under a minus ten point deduction…Carlisle was a lonely drive home!
A darker period followed with the likes of a stubborn Quinn…..Until enter the Howe ( a choice forced on the club due to sinking finances)
Eddie Howe - Fate had landed us a determined and amazing fella who I still can’t believe fashioned a rag bag tiny squad of players and loans into a team who battled back from the most strident of punishments of a minus 17 point handicap. This still is the most incredible thing ( even eclipsing what was to follow IMO)
Lee Bradbury/ Supa - How do you follow Howe? Well Supa stepped aside and Lee so nearly changed the course of history with a play off shot!
The messiah returned to finish off his work and lead us to the Utopian world of the PL and his place in history as the most successful AFCB manager of all time (still IMO)
His only blemish was our relegation, although inevitable, and Covid influenced Eddie failed to overcome some player irritation and could find the answers to save us.
Groves/Brooks - No comment really!
So onto Tindall, and respect for giving it shot , but ultimately doomed to failure.
Mr Woodgate seizing his opportunity to manage and progress his career, with mixed results, close to achieving play off success, but eventually running out of ideas IMO.
Scott Parker - Good appointment at the time as we were seeking someone who could guide us back to the promised land. He achieved this and although not always a fun watch we owe him a big debt of gratitude for promotion.
Gary O’Neil - Thrown in the deep end after Scott’s meltdown ( a consequently proved a good decision) Schooled the team to safety even if in a methodical and slightly boring manner.
Andoni Iraola - The somewhat shock appointment of this relatively unknown coach, sparked some media condemnation, with good sense it felt?
A tricky start made many wonder what was going to happen? Amazingly Andoni glued his style into the side and we were gaining admirers for our free flowing attacking football played at furious pace at times. Andoni has been an absolute gem and leaves us in a place few could have dreamt.

tbf he's played a blinder from a career perspective

don't sign a new contract (that's what he does), delay the announcement then leave on a high and spend the summer being touted around the big boys, there's a massive dearth of managerial talent so sooner or later someone will offer him a huge bag of cash

if it's chelsea, I hope he's a rosenior-sized failure and gets the flick in total ridicule

Nice, not bitter then

You make it sound like he's decided to start collecting 3 points recently to benefit himself :D.

He wrote him off as the busted Spanish flush waiter and has spent three years being very quiet apart from the odd bad run where he arrives back to point out errors.

Now, like Del, on the back of a 15 game unbeaten run and another record breaking season in the offing all he has left is to be able to slag off the exit.

Watching the chickens come home to roost for those two is almost as entertaining as the brilliant season we are having..:

Funny how a bloke who's got me on ignore for the good of the forum (special thanks.to the forum elders for looking out for everyone) has got so much to say about my opinions. Unsurprisingly he's completely misrepresenting me with a load of made-up drivel.

Funny also how Dawson is nowhere to be seen on the Franno thread. Maybe he's not watched the interview with Fletch where Franno completely blows apart the absolute anti-Hughes bullshit that Dawson has been shitting onto this board for years. Wonder why the forum elders didn't step in and stop that tbh.

Whataboutery is a poor look ;-)

Dawson did start it this time - but here we are again in a Del/Dawson bicker fest.

Seriously, pack it in now.

Or have one of those City boy 3 round boxing matches in the QP car park.

Hold on a minute... are you a forum elder? I thought you guys only communicated with Dawson in private? You've outed yourself now!

Great summary Garbo. What about Freddie Cox though....over stayed his welcome. I didn't understand the humour when the Main Stand shouted "Cox Out" towards the end of his reign....!

Nice summary. I'd note that the comment on Quinn suggests a small amount of lack of respect.... thankfully!!! I'd only take issue with Bond Jr. We were down and out and the players just clearly thought **************** this let's just play with the shackles off and was it 7 out of 8 wins at the end to nearly stay up? I've not looked that up but was something like that. Bond's natural shackles took a good team down before it was too late.

This was the start of his “managerial” record the season before…

This this was the season up until the administration derby with Luton.
