Andoni Iraola

Other websites are mentioning our manager’s former assistant in Spain as a target for Palace.

More here on post above.

Now, it appears, they are close to securing the current Bournemouth manager. El Chiringuito report that ‘Andoni Iraola is close to joining Crystal Palace’ for next season. The outlet provides no further information than that.

Crystal Palace ambition

But the appointment would be a major coup for Crystal Palace given the work that Andoni Iraola has done during his time with Bournemouth.

Not only would they be securing a manager who is comfortable and proven in the Premier League. There will also be very little difficulty transitioning from Oliver Glasner’s style to the Spaniard’s either.

I really can't see AI having committed to joining any club just yet.

A lot of jobs will become available in the summer and it wouldn't make sense for him to have decided already. I have no doubt that CP have approached him and that he has said that he will consider their offer, but that is a long way from them having secured his signature.

I think AI is too shrewd to take on any new job before the summer. A lot of options will come his way at the end of the season and most likely all of them will be more attractive than CP.

Currently he holds all of the cards and he has absolutely no need to rush into any kind of a decision just yet. These kind of reports will all just be speculation at this point IMO.

Not really sure what he’s gaining by joining Palace over just staying here a bit longer and then moving to a CL club.

If the recent comment on wanting us to not sell Kroupi is to be taken as a subtle criticism of the owners (if you want to make that leap), Palace are just as much of a “selling club” as us too. Look at the acrimony Glasner has just had with those owners about the exact same (but worse) issues.

If he’s honestly dithered over a new commitment to us for 15 months just to end up going to a club like Palace for a bit more money and the landan lifestyle, then sorry, but that just seems very snaky. I will have lost a lot of respect for him personally.

Sky Sports News dispute the most recent reports.

Him going there would make very little sense, both for him (same challenge just with Pom poms) or to afcb losing him to them. May hit a few alarm bells and raised eye brows along with Franno heading for the exit.

This comes out on the Thursday right before potentially massive historical games on Saturday / Tuesday. Given how intense Iraola is, you really think he's deep into talks with Palace (or anyone) at this precise moment? Nah, it smells pretty fishy to me, like someone somewhere is stirring.
It's actually a really tight call to decide if Palace would be a sideways or a backwards move after AFCB !
I just can't see it, personally.
I just can't see how going there makes any sense at all, given where he is in his career right now. He has to be aiming higher than that for his next move.

If his children are settled at school in this area, then I would have thought if he joined a London club, it would be better for him to commute. He himself has said how much his family and himself like the area.

But he hasn’t said if his family want to move back home or not.

He has been really good in saying he has a job to finish at his present club and is not interested in discussing his future until the season and his contract ends.

Andoni Iraola can’t do anything about speculation in the media in this country and abroad.

The important thing is it hasn’t affected the performance of his players or his concentration on getting as many points on the board and maybe into Europe.

Doesn't make any sense Billy. If he wants to stay in this area then the best "commute" would be to stay here.

This is it, he hasn’t said if he will be leaving this country or not, so basically we will get the answers once the last ball has been kicked and his contract with AFCB has finished.

We don’t know what has been discussed with him re a new contract, terms offered etc.

What we do know his record for staying at clubs is three seasons.
