I genuinely think that the poor run of form we had mid season was all down to the speculation and uncertainty around Semenyo and his departure.
Prior to and Post that debacle we were/are producing results to challenge for upwards of 3rd in the table and could even have been challenging for the title.
I would agree with the MC fans that he's probably not the most flair player, but at AFCB that's not our expectation, we loved him because he brought the excitement, for MC fans scoring goals and winning games is just what they do so they want something more, something outstanding, the flair, the flicks and the tricks, they have their non-flair goalscorer already.

I think that it was mainly down to a shaky back four and a keeper whose confidence had hit rock bottom. I don’t think that a player having speculation around his future is going to have that kind of impact on the squad.

I do think Semenyo's form dipped as soon as the release clause became known and we did rely on him heavily.....having to find a different way to play without him has definitely has been the making of us.....to the degree that I'm not sure we would be in this position had he stayed.

We can disagree on this, I watched the games and there was a distinct lack of cohesion that wasn't previously present and Antoine was visibly not as involved as he had been previously, his head was not in the game and I think it had an impact on the whole squad psychologically.
It's a pattern that has happened previously with players from other clubs. I'm not casting aspersions on anyone, it's just something that I think happened.
