Yorkshire Not Been A Happy Hunting Ground
After our disappointing 2-3 home defeat against Preston N E on Tuesday night our side travel up to Yorkshire, this season so far it hasn’t been a happy hunting ground so far. This game is an early evening start at 5.30 pm on Friday, it is being shown live on Sky TV.
The Barnsley manager is Valérien Ismael from France, he joined them in the October of this year. He said Barnsley play football the way he likes, high-pressing, intensity, vertical game. His previous club was LASK Linz in Austria. He took over from the Austrian Gerhard Struber who joined New York Red Bulls. In the Summer Barnsley signed seven players, plus one on loan.
Their home record so far this season, they started the season with a home defeat 0-1 against Luton Town. This was followed by two drawn games, first 0-0 against Coventry City and then 2-2 against Bristol City. Then Barnsley had their first win 3-0 against QPR, this was followed with two more wins 1-0 win against Watford and 2-0 against Nottingham Forest. In their last home game they went down by the only goal of the game scored by Brentford. Their away record has seen a 0-2 at Derby County. Two draws, 2-2 at Stoke City and 1-1 in London against Millwall. They have lost 2-0 at Reading, 2-1 up in the North East against Middlesbrough. In Wales they went down 3-0 at Cardiff City and 2-1 against Blackburn Rovers. Their latest game against Birmingham City finished with a win 1-2.
The last time our team travelled up to Yorkshire to play Barnsley was in the 2013-14 season in the Championship, Steve Cook’s injury time winner and the only goal of the game to give the Cherries 3 points and the double over Barnsley. In the home game AFCB also won 1-0 with the winning goal scored by Marc Pugh in the 76th minute.
In all our away league games against Barnsley, AFCB have W 4, D 5, L 11.
All competitions home and away, AFCB have W 13, D 13, L 16.
