Ben Davies?

According to the Sunday Mirror we've bid £5 million for Preston's Ben Davies to 'replace Nathan Ake'. Apparently the bid has been rejected and Preston want double that amount...

Seems he's in the last year of his contract so Preston have the same conundrum we faced with Fraser last season. I think this may yet have more legs.

Definitely the sort of player we tend to go for and also a position where we could use some options. Wouldn't be a bad signing if the price is right. Fingers crossed we can get a deal done.

Hence we restricted them to 2 shots on target. One from 30+ yards

Hmm, is that in the same way you might claim to have played a blinder because you restricted Benin Adobe to one shot on target? The fact that they couldn’t shoot straight is not necessarily down to the quality of defence.

Wiki says that he can play left back as well so maybe he could be seen as potential cover for Rico, especially if Rico is off somewhere before the transfer window closes.

Heading into this summer, the future of defender Ben Davies was one of the main concerns for Preston North End fans.

The centre back has arguably been the big success story of the Alex Neil era, emerging from forgotten youngster to indispensable star.

Calm, composed and talented on the ball whilst possessing a fine reading of the game, Davies has become a superb centre back – and has the added quality of being left-footed, which many managers love due to the balance that can provide.

The problem for Preston is that Davies is out of contract in 2021. He has just one year left on his deal at Deepdale, and many have expected him to go.

On Sunday, the Daily Mail reported that Leicester City want to sign Davies, with Brendan Rodgers keen to add a new centre back this summer.

I’m a bit disturbed that nobody has slagged him off yet. Anybody got an Aunty near Deepdale who thinks he can only play the way he is facing?
