I see that you get free train travel from as far out as Worthing if you have a match ticket - so don't buy a ticket for the whole journey to Falmer.

Seems to be the case unless you are travelling in from nearer to falmer/brighton. I am in Chichester on the Saturday and it is about £5 quid cheaper to get a ticket to Worthing than to Falmer.
