Charlie Daniels

Although it obviously could be much more severe, Charlie has the same basic injury as an American football player at the University of Southern California. The USC player is only expected to be out 4-6 weeks. U.S.C. is known for having one of the best sports medicine programmes in the world ( https://ortho.keckmedicine.org/usc-epstein-family-center-for-sports-medicine/ ).

When Beckham was injured with tendon problems, he had his surgery done in Turku, Finland ( https://sportshospital.com). Recovered in half the time that had been predicted here in the UK.

I know some of our players have been going to Philadelphia for rehab. I'd suggest before undergoing surgery a second opinion should be obtained for Charlie. Bluntly, the UK, even in private care, is way behind the Nordic countries and specialist clinics in the US in using minimally invasive surgery. I had some toe surgery a few years ago: here in the UK I was looking at special shoes, four to six months of recovery. Was able to get the surgery done, minimally invasive, in Boston. I was back working in normal shoes ten days later.

I don't mean to suggest anything negative about the care here but with all the money in this game I just hope Charlie makes sure he's getting the best surgical procedure available in the world. I started going to games when our home stadium was, albeit temporarily, in Dorchester. Charlie may be my favourite player of all these years. He deserves at least the same care as an American college football player. I just hope he's getting it.

We've had a few players with the same injury (maybe even Chaz himself) only have the 5-6 weeks out. Seems there must be some further complications, possibly due to it being not his first, or overstretching of the patellar tendon. Alternatively this is Eddie doing his usual underpromising on the injury front. Also Turku is a lovely place, I conflate it with Pori, but I did enjoy my weekends up there

Good post this - even if it is a bit controversial.

Wish Charlie a super fast recovery, worked so hard to get fit and back from last one so sure he will do the same.
Abit like Wilson, when he got back from one ACL he did the other knee.
Callum has come back stronger from it.
You can do it Chaz!.

I wish him a speedy recovery, but it was really inevitable that he would suffer a serious injury like Simon Francis, as neither are fit enough to play 90 minute top level defending at their age. And as they do age, it takes longer to get over the injury then if they were 10 years younger.
