Crystal Palace v AFC Bournemouth

Curtain Comes Down At Palace

Saturday saw our first ever League win against Spurs. Last game of the season at Dean Court, where a late injury time winner from Ryan Fraser’s corner allowed Nathan Ake to find a gap in the Spurs defence to head the ball into the far corner of the net against the 9 man Spurs side. The FA Cup win in 1957 is well documented. The Cherries now move on to our last game of the season which is against a Crystal Palace (the Eagles) side who have had much better form away from home than at Selhurst Park. AFCB on the other hand have a poor away record this season. So taking in those stats we could be looking at an end of season draw. This would make a hat-trick of draws in our last three visits to Selhurst Park.

In the January transfer window Palace signed three players, winger Bakary Sako from West Brom until the end of the season on a short-term contract. Brazilian goalkeeper Lucas Perri from Sao Paolo until the end of the season on loan. Striker Michy Batshuayi on loan from Chelsea.

Since our last game in October at Dean Court against Palace which we won 2-1, they lost their next two games. First at home against Wolves 0-1 and then away against Everton 2-0. They broke their sequence of three defeats in a row with a 2-2 draw at home at Selhurst Park against another London club Arsenal.

November Palace started with two defeats both against London clubs. Away at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea 3-1 and then at home by the only goal against Spurs. The last game of the month was away up in Manchester against United, it finished 0-0.

December started with a home win against Burnley 2-0. This was followed with two away defeats, against arch rivals Brighton 3-1 and at the London Stadium 3-2 against West Ham. The next two games saw an upturn in Crystal Palace’s fortunes with two wins. At Selhurst Park 1-0 against Leicester City and a big scalp up in Manchester beating City 2-3. The next two games were both at home, drawing 0-0 with Cardiff City, this was the half way stage of the season and the Eagles were 14th in the table on 19 points, 7 points behind AFCB in 12th place. The last game of the month and year was against Chelsea which finished 0-1.

January started with a trip to the Black Country, Palace went home with all 3 points beating Wolves 0-2. The next game at home ended with a 1-2 defeat against Watford. They then travelled up to Merseyside to the Red part of the City to face Liverpool, in a game with seven goals, Palace lost 4-3.
They ended the month with the short trip to Southampton in a game that finished in a 1-1 draw.

February started off well, the Eagles with two home games against fellow London clubs. The first visitors were Fulham, Palace beat them 2-0. Next was the visit of West Ham, both clubs shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. This was followed with a trip to Leicester, Palace won 1-4. The last game of the month at home ended in a 1-3 defeat against Manchester United.

The first game in March was a trip up North to play Burnley, Crystal Palace returned home with all three points having won 1-3. Old rivals Brighton were the visitors to Selhurst Park and the Seasiders returned home having completed the double in a 1-2 victory. The last game of March was at home and it ended with a 2-0 win against struggling Huddersfield Town.

April was a topsy turvy month for Palace, first game was at the opening ceremony of the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Spurs won 2-0. Palace then had an away game up in the North East against Newcastle United, Palace won with the only goal of the game. Back at Selhurst Park the visitors were Manchester City, City won 1-3. Next Palace were away against Arsenal and won 2-3. Last game of the month ended with a 0-0 draw at home against Everton.

The only game in May so far was in Wales and it saw Palace relegate Cardiff City in a 2-3 win.

Last season’s visit to Selhurst Park by AFCB, probably had two memorable moments, first Jermain Defoe’s injury time goal in the first half to make the scores level, with a dipping half-volley, this was his second goal of the game. The second one was when Christian Benteke took the injury time penalty and it was weak and easily saved by Asmir Begovic, this didn’t go down well with his manager, as he wasn’t the appointed penalty taker. If the penalty had been converted, it would have given Palace all three points instead of just the one and lifted them off the bottom of the table.
In all our away league games against the Eagles, AFCB have Won 7, Drawn 9 and Lost 19. In all competitions AFCB have Won 29, Drawn 19 and Lost 23.

AFCB Player To Watch
We are more of a team than one individual player. But will go for the partnership of Ryan Fraser and Callum Wilson who have built up an understanding together this season.

I'm currently more worried about the Havant/Guildford route on the effing trains again.

I will, however, stay and applaud the team afterwards unlike Saturday when I had a very important beer festival to go to... :guiness::innocent:

Also - No circle line and no District between South Ken and the far east.

So if your train stops at Clapham Junction, get off and get the next train to go to Victoria if you are drinking in London first.

No idea how we might line up; will EH rest some players like Ake, Cook and Fraser and give an opportunity to some youth? Will Travers keep his place (he should)? Will we finally put to rest whether Hyndman is s*** or not?

What would he rest them for.... the beach ?;)

Only kidding, as stated there's some money on it plus the chance for the clubs biggest ever PL points tally. I personally think the points tally is important to Eddie and he's previously mentioned it. On a forum level it might stop some of the nonsense that keeps appearing on here about how the club aren't progressing.

Let’s hope they do it against Palace and set another record for our club.

RYAN Fraser believes a close bond with neighbour Callum Wilson has helped the pair to the verge of Premier League history.

The deadly duo have linked up for 12 goals in the top flight this season with the current record of 13 set by Blackburn pair Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton in 1994-95, where the campaign lasted 42 games.

Fraser and Wilson first linked up at Cherries when the latter arrived from Coventry in July 2014. And it is not only on the pitch where the pair have a tight connection.

Fraser told the Daily Echo: “We’ve got to get on because he’s my next-door neighbour.

“He always makes a racket! No, he’s a top man. We get on really well.
