Dango Ouattara

If we hadn’t sold him then we’d have qualified for Europe already. He’d be our best winger after Rayan.
Hilarious. He left because he couldn’t get in the team ahead of Tavs and Semenyo. Which of those were you dropping him for? Don’t say he’d have been a better sub to bring on because he didn’t want to do that hence why he left.

I don’t understand this discussion.

Neil has told everyone over the years that we overpaid for Dango, that he is utterly clueless and has to be told where to stand and how to kick a ball for 90 minutes every week and that FranPinto did an amazing job to get more than 57p and a packet of Hula Hoops for him.

As far as I’m concerned I’m glad he left because if he had stayed we would surely have been relegated.

Thank god we spent 25m on a SOD-type dwarf who had barely played a senior game been permanently injured and produced virtually nothing all season.

Obviously I’ve got this completely wrong and it was a masterstroke by FranPinto and not to be confused with the 25m we spent on Tyler Adams who then missed a chunk of the season with injury which resulted in Neil slaughtering both Tyler and Richard Hughes as a result.

Everyone still following…….?

(FWIW I’m a fan of Gannon-Doak and think he’ll prove a very good signing).

U ok hun? ;)

£42 million?...how much did we pay for Rayan?

Dango just isn't consistent enough, he hasn't been able to nail down a starting place in Brentford's side this season, and wouldn't have in ours either!

I will take where we are now, we will finish the job over the next two games and finish 6th. That is an incredible position in The PL for a club our size and stature!

IF that brings CL football next season it would be sheer heaven for us fans...but the least we will get is probably The Europa League which is one helluva legacy Andoni!

AFCB the club that keeps giving!

When it comes to players, everybody has a monetary value - their worth to being at the club whichis made up of performances, consistency, versatility, dressing room leadership & mentoring and many other attributes including transfer market opportunities.

A value significantly below this would make them a bargain if signing and bad business if selling, and a value significantly above that monetary value makes it very good business if selling or a terrible buy. Also its worth noting the two clubs involved put different values on things so its not simply good buy/bad sell and bad buy/good sell.

Dango is a good player that is capable of producing moments of magic but we have/had a squad full of good players especially in those positions. Coupled with his time spent adjusting to the PL (Neils point about positioning was a valid one at the time - no longer as he has adjusted) and better players ahead of him menat his value to us is lower than perhaps it would be at another club - especially a club that has just sold its front line and desparately need players.

We got a very, very good fee for him which we have invested in 2 players which needed time to adapt and progress and Brentford got a player that they needed.

A rare one that is a good deal all round.

For those that rated him and wish we didn't sell, if he became available this summer, would you buy him back for £45m or would you prefer we look for another Rayan and another Kroupi Jr?

The kid has got 7 goals and 3 assists from 2,192 minutes of football.

Add that to his tally of 7 goals and 4 assists from 2,009 minutes of football for us last season and that's a pretty consistent return for someone not very consistent...
Consistently inconsistent :grinning:

Of course I am Neil, I’m only playing.

I’ll be over at the start of next season and I’ll buy you a couple of beers while we have a long chat about the game as I know we’re going to get on, as you talk a lot of sense on BOTN, but until then I’ll keep teasing you about your double standards!!

Very good post.

In answer to your question I really liked Dango and thought he was a brilliant utility man to have around the squad even if the chances of him nailing down a starting spot, week in week out, were slim.

That said, the fee we got for him was outstanding and miles more than I thought he was worth.

Put it like this - I reckon if the deal had fallen through simply because we felt 42.5m didn’t meet our valuation of him we’d have all thought FranPinto was completely mad.

Exactly as I see it.

I liked him, I liked the fee even more - so how can I have any complaints.

They are only double standards to you. To me they are standards :grinning:

Looking forward to that pint :guiness:
