Dave Provan (who??)

The sad fact for Celtic and Rangers is that they are undoubtedly big clubs, but the league they play in is Mickey Mouse. I don’t think you can criticise a player for wanting to play a better standard of football week in week out.
would the author of this piece been so scathing if Christie had moved to Forest who have twice as many European cups as Celtic but are an inferior team to us at the moment.

Living on their 1967 European cup win, now lets see who knocked them out this year ? ah yes, the mighty Midtjylland....................( Village green team )
Danish team FC Midtjylland actually play some good football. a club owned by Matthew Benham who also owns Brentford.

Let's have it right, this lot whinging about poxy English clubs and their money is a joke. Look at the player in question, the perfect example of celtic hoovering up any talent north of the border then loaning it back to the plebby clubs as they see fit. They are ten times the drain on football than any English village side.

I actually think that the article insults Celtic and the Scottish league, rather than the player.

Everything he says is right, second tier football to a club that apart from the last 7 or 8 years has been bouncing between the 3rd and 4th tier, with a tiny stadium of 11,500 people.

Yet, this is still better than Celtic and the Scottish Premier League.

Never heard of him so I searched him, played in Scotland his whole career so his opinion is invalid. One of the teams he played for Kilmarnock has the population of half of Christchurch and the other is a club who are bigger religiously than they are as a club, he's as village green as they come and he's never been to the deep South clearly.

Celtic and Rangers do see themselves as bigger than a lot of teams around the world but below that the crowds are pretty much league one/two standards !

Southampton have more facebook likes than Rangers and Celtic combined.
Massive in Scotland and parts of Ireland that's it. Irn Bru outsells Coca-Cola in Scotland but it's not bigger than Coca-Cola.
Passionate fans yes but nowhere near the size of Liverpool, United, Arsenal, Chelsea it's laughable they try and compare themselves to these English clubs because they're like Scunthorpe in comparison.

Aston Villa are a bigger club than both of them having also won a European Cup but in more recent times and having played in a league of purpose most of their existence.
