Dean Court Redevelopment

Financially, having a couple of thousand empty seats a few times a season doesn't balance out with the potential 7,000 more ten times a season, but it's not my money (it's not when *insert whoever here* buys useless or great players either)

I always remember when local TV interviewed Jeff Mostyn in 2015 after we'd been promoted to the Premier League.
He was asked if we'd ever expand the size of the stadium? Jeff replied that we only ever get 11,000. Unsaid by implication, not much point..

I thought at the time, Jeff, we can ONLY get 11,000 in there.. duh..

I would like to think that one day, after we've increased the stadium to 20-23K capacity, that the current owner, whoever they are, look at increasing the size of the Main Stand.. might not be in my lifetime though.

You sure it wasn't Dawson in disguise? :D

I do want a bigger stadium. Just not 30,000

How big would you have it?
If we want to compete long term at PL then 30k minimum with the potential to expand. All the clubs with 30k stadiums are looking to expand.

It depends on what the ambition is. If it’s to eventually became a stable championship club then 20k is fine, if it’s to seriously compete at PL level then it isn’t.

And you think we’d fill it?

It's not like 30k clubs are all competing though is it?

What looks like a near final draft of the Section 106 agreement has appeared in the planning documents. In other words what AFCB are expected to contribute to public/community works if planning is granted.

Haven’t trawled through it to add it all up but it looks to be a tidy sum, including (from memory):

- re-routing the cycle path and creating various road crossings etc in Kings Park
- c £200k to pay for setting up the Controlled Parking Zones and a further £15k a year for 5 years for matchday enforcement
- £50k to upgrade the lighting and bollards of the Queens Park underpass (really?)
- £100k to improve the entrance/exit at Pokesdown to facilitate bigger numbers plus signposting to the ground
- a sizeable contribution to the skate park
- about £25k for barriers etc at the former Bowls club to stop people parking there
- about £80k for improvements for walking, cycling nearby eg Harewood Avenue
- in addition to providing extra cycle stands, the club will have to monitor their usage each season and, if it exceeds 80%, provide more

All in all, a shed load of money. Hopefully though it will be sufficient Danegeld for the BCP councillors’ eyes to light up and approve the application.

Queen’s Park underpass had a spruce up a few years ago. Seems perfectly fine at the moment.

I assumed the one by the gym, was painted with Afcb murals around 2/3 years ago and cleaned up a lot.

Yeah that's the one I thought of but it doesn't really need anything since those changes so maybe they mean the other one. Replacing the barriers with bollards has allowed a much smoother flow of people through the one by the gym.

The document refers to the “Wessex Way underpass”. I assumed it meant the one by the gym for the simple reason that I didn’t know there was another one. IMHO it isn’t clear which one it refers to.

Shouldn't be too difficult. Not for an ambitious, established Premier League club in the 13th largest conurbation in the country.

Given the ball-ache it is to construct even a Championship-sized stadium in said conurbation, though, there's no way we'd even be allowed to build it.
