Dean Court Redevelopment

More Stadium pics. What IS going on behind the 'Ted Shed'?

A bakers dozen photos for you!

One lonesome cladding panel installed on the SE corner - but it’s a start - the Turnstile cladding 90% done and almost ready for the actual turnstiles to be installed.

The SS rear area levelling up almost done. You’ll see there’s no actual path behind the SS at the moment and a straight drop of about 18 inches.

The shops fresh coat of paint is finished and all the major roof steels for the NW corner are done.

I’ve shown the smaller remaining steels in a couple of the shots for reference. Oh and they’ve removed the safety netting and about half of the scaffolding in the SE corner as seen in another couple of shots.

Thank you for your updates Rob

The cladding is all on the SE corner now, the scaffolding removed and the turnstile frame is finished awaiting the turnstiles themselves.
The rear levelling up work at the SS is almost complete and reinforceing steels driven into the ground next to the current stand.
I counted 9 medium sized steels waiting to be fitted at the NW corner. The large crane and two cherry pickers are working on the Stand right now. It looks like the external cladding is also there ready to install as soon as the structure is ready . Roofing sheets and edgings are in the car park next to the Ticket Office.

New month, new stand! Latest Dean Court redevelopment pics!

Take a look and see the progress!

Edit: Someone has very kindly let me know that Ive incorrectly captioned each corner! Its too much of a faff to re-edit but I'm sure you'll forgive me. I was in a rush and didn't check!

Thanks for the updates both. Looks like I was premature in my suggestion that the external steels were going to be left as a galvanised finish. Painted finish plus the cladding looks decent. I wasn’t expecting any sheet piling on this, so interesting to see that.

Is that the Brighton Beach End as it was when Harold Walker was trying to develop Dean Court?
As I remember it I didn't think there was that much. It's a long time ago..
Yes it is. There was going to be a Sports Hall (or possibly Squash Courts) underneath the Concourse level you can see in the photo.

I can’t say for certain, but I think some of the steel structure was taken down before the rest, presumably for scrap, which might explain why you don’t remember such an imposing structure.

Standing out in all weathers no cover day and evening games.

When I told my wife about standing watching football in the pouring rain and cold nights without cover, she said you must have been mad. :grinning:

No worries about finding a place to stand, just pick your spot.

No searches, paid and in.
Plenty of searches through late 70s to 80's predominantly by old bill.Although this was south end.

Ah. The membership cards, fences, aromatic urinals (wall painted black with a gutter along the bottom), threats of violence, flying cushions rented for 2 bob and being able to park where you like on scrubland if you were lucky enough to have a car.

Those were the days.

Tell that go the young 'uns and they won't believe thee .

The only time you sat down in those days is after being hit on the head by a lump of concrete at Swindon.

I remember my Dad took me to Swindon for my first away day, scarfs hanging out the windows of his Ford Cortina on the way up, tooting and flashing headlights at fellow bournemouth fans on the way up. Bricks and darts were thrown at us during the game and a stop of on the way home for some chips.
I was scared sheetless at the time but looking back I wouldn't change a thing!!

....and as a young'un, for most games you could wander around to watch the game from anywhere that took your fancy. I think that was before they allocated it to away fans.
