Eli Junior Kroupi

When you think of the other London Premier League clubs like Chelsea, Spurs and West Ham were linked with him and at a figure of around £35 million, it does seem like we got him on the cheap.

But with our deal he will remain at his present club and with his goals help them to get promotion which will ease the ‘pain’ for them.

There was nothing in the West Ham talks that I saw (please correct me if wrong) that suggested he would be loaned back to Lorient for the remainder of the season. So that is worth something especially if it results in promotion.

Me too mate. This is kind of deal I was hoping for, in terms of 2nd striker/nimber 10.. with potential to be workd class. Seems ideal and very likely to be in reckoning from bench next season. Very exciting imo...having options like this to wheel on and see their development unfold... plus he's quick, seems more much aligned to our blueprint than unal. Plus contender for Kluivert slot..proper number 10, which we've needed for quite a while now... Kluivert transitioned, but shoe Horning Christie there feels desperate, and AI doesn't appear to fancy our other wingers transitioning, as did with Kluivert

Been a while since I've mentioned football manager...

This guy is right up there with Zabs, kerkez etc... im terms of workd class potential. Just looked him up on my fm24 save... 10 years in, late 20s... at Real Madrid, worth 80 to 100 mill. He left lorient for man city.

Attributes look good at start, the ones which indicate likeky to be very good are high for a youngster: decisions, technique, dribbling, pace, composure. Surprising highish for aggression and bravery too... indicating not a light weight flair player...

Now at Real, he looks world class. Finishing, composure, dribbling, pace, technique, flair, decisions all over 17 (out of 20).

So here we are.im really looking forward to seeing him here in action and develop over time. Proper number 10, whos quick, talented/highly rated... and brave/high workrate. Whats not to like? Seems a superb signing again by the club
Agree with all that, well put !.

Bizarre....he is staying on loan at the French club until the end of the season...while we have injured strikers.
Beggars f√cking belief !

12 Million smackerooneys outlay and he performs elsewhere for 5 months !

Gee ..That was our foray into this Transfer Market Window with hopes of finishing high enough to be in Europe next season !

Yep your right before you say it ...I just don't understand the way things operate now .

You know what ...I'm f√cking glad I don't !

Interesting theory on the Lorient forum about the two prices being bandied around. €12m is 60% of €20m. Foley currently owns 40% of Lorient. Coincidence? Probably.

Also, given he's a striker coming from Ligue 2, am I late in calling him the French Lys Mousset?

There’s nothing bizarre about it.

We, alongside a number of top clubs were after him, but Lorient are in a race for promotion so understandably reluctant for him to go.

Given he’s one for the future a deal was done that ensured he was ours but also appeased Lorient, otherwise it would have been left until the summer when, in all probability, the player would have gone elsewhere.

I’ve seen nothing about us paying £12m or whatever upfront. There may be a nominal upfront payment on contract but certainly nowhere near the full cost.

He's also come out saying that he had no intention of leaving this season, wants to achieve promotion with Lorient. This deal allows him to work towards that, then get the step up he wants. I think that's a positive.

Very much so. He is one of their own. Of course he wants to help his team to achieve promotion before leaving. He has been there since he was seven years old or something and I believe his Dad also played for them.
Pretty sure that he feels that he owes them that much, at the very least !

Undisclosed.
