Eli Junior Kroupi

I’ve already stated that you can’t force a player to sign for a particular club.
And I agree. But the whole model that Foley talks about is dependant on us actually being an attractive enough end destination.

The point I’m trying to make is that this model clearly works for the likes of Chelsea and Man City, I just don’t see how it works for us. We are not big enough to be the big fish in a multi club progression chain.

True. But if this is the case, then surely the whole ‘progression through the multi club system until the player reaches AFCB’ that Bill keeps talking about is clearly flawed? If we can’t attract Lorients best young talent when we are a serious contender for Europe then when can we?
When and if we progress, or a player sees benefits in signing for us.

You won't be able to do it in every case - that's football. For every Jaidon Anthony who you can convince to sign there will be a Jordan Zemura who you can't.

If you listen to Foley’s interviews, he is very emphatic in the point that the aim of the multi club model is to provide a pathway for players to eventually get to us. He talks about being able to compete with the bigger clubs due to ‘pay ourselves’ to get players. If we are missing out on young players as promising as Kroupi, then the model as he describes it is clearly flawed. Unless I’m missing something?
what happens if west ham bid 40 mill for him but we want him for 20 mill? that's where the multi club model has grey areas as Lorient will still need to do the best deal for them to a point

I'd imagine that one of the main reasons for the multi club model is to be able to officially buy the player for 20m and make up the other 20m to the club in way of investment....that's the only way we can beat ffp.

Yep - and also its a better deal for the Multi model group financially.

Too much concentration here on just one aspect of the multi model group. There are many benefits - loaning young stars to for development, getting to know a nations talent well (we will have a sharper eye on Ligue 2 talent at other clubs because L'Orient scouts will be looking at them and playing against them), Being able to do some financial jiggery pokery.

There's many points to the multi club model.

Ultimately though if Real Madrid want to bid 50m for a L'Orient player and we can't do that for PSR reasons then its good for the group as a whole but we will miss out on the playing side on that player.

Bit more on the West Ham story and it seems they are waiting on Lorient owner Loic Fery‘s decision.

Latest from Sky Sports News' Kaveh Solhekol and Dharmesh Sheth:

West Ham are continuing talks with Lorient over a possible deal for Eli Junior Kroupi.

The Premier League club are proposing a deal worth £35m for the forward.

I think this is a fair point. Fees between clubs under the same ownership don't need to be at market value necessarily, subject to the checks they do on these things. They just need to be at a level that benefits both clubs in the long run. Dango bought for over market value because Foley needed to pump money in to Lorient at that point. It's doubtful whether Faivre was signed to play for AFCB at all but Lorient couldn't afford him at the time so AFCB step in. Likewise Kroupi could be sold to AFCB for less than market value if it suits the system.

If you go on FC Lorient's forum you'll find loads of their supporters saying things like "he shouldn't go to Bournemouth, he's better off here where he's doing well" and "it would be a risk that might not work out for him". Alternatively just go on the Dean Huisjen thread or any other thread where our players are linked with moves to bigger clubs and just change the player names.

Football fans the world over are the same.

West Ham want him now and we are prepared to wait. I’m sure L’Orient are more focused on promotion than cash now - that they can’t spend this late in the window. Get promoted and have a Summer cash injection for the rebuild sounds much the better option to me.

West Ham have just signed Ferguson, so wonder if that will alter the strategy?

West Ham have only offered £15 m for him, plus £20 m in, probably implausible, add ons. So their strategy of dicking around in the transfer market hasn’t changed.

I think you're being unfair. It's £15m down, plus £10m if he wins Miss World, another £5m if he can solve the challenges around nuclear fusion and the final £5m when a camel is led through the eye of a needle.

Simple.

Out of interest where and when is the next Miss World being held please?

Asking for a friend! LOL!

Not likely now !.

Any danger that he gets sold by current regime at Lorient to cash in just before Bill takes ownership ?

Do the current owner give a stuff about our multi club model ?
