How will we ever know?
Seriously though do transfer fees have to be made known in the public domain or are they allowed to be kept secret?

Brilliant signing, very happy with this.
Me too mate. This is kind of deal I was hoping for, in terms of 2nd striker/nimber 10.. with potential to be workd class. Seems ideal and very likely to be in reckoning from bench next season. Very exciting imo...having options like this to wheel on and see their development unfold... plus he's quick, seems more much aligned to our blueprint than unal. Plus contender for Kluivert slot..proper number 10, which we've needed for quite a while now... Kluivert transitioned, but shoe Horning Christie there feels desperate, and AI doesn't appear to fancy our other wingers transitioning, as did with Kluivert

Been a while since I've mentioned football manager...

This guy is right up there with Zabs, kerkez etc... im terms of workd class potential. Just looked him up on my fm24 save... 10 years in, late 20s... at Real Madrid, worth 80 to 100 mill. He left lorient for man city.

Attributes look good at start, the ones which indicate likeky to be very good are high for a youngster: decisions, technique, dribbling, pace, composure. Surprising highish for aggression and bravery too... indicating not a light weight flair player...

Now at Real, he looks world class. Finishing, composure, dribbling, pace, technique, flair, decisions all over 17 (out of 20).

So here we are.im really looking forward to seeing him here in action and develop over time. Proper number 10, whos quick, talented/highly rated... and brave/high workrate. Whats not to like? Seems a superb signing again by the club

Ooh some bitter Hammers fans on KUMB, the link up with Lorient ‘stinks’ apparently.

Well, so does getting a free stadium.

Let’s be honest, it does stink. If we’ve got him on the cheap then that’s obviously great for us but not sure how the Lorient fans will feel if they’ve lost that once in a lifetime generational talent for a less than market rate fee.

But you’ve got to play the system and most clubs have these link ups across the Europe/World.

This type of deal is exactly what the model is set up for.

They can be kept secret from the public but have to be registered with the FA. Usually enough leaks out that there's a general consensus about the fee but you can never know 100% if it's accurate. Doesn't feel that common to have two fees out there about 75% apart though.

Do feel for the Lorient fans tbh. Not the cockneys tho.

In mitigation, he only had 18 months left on his contract and, with all the interest, probably wouldn't have signed a new deal.

So he likely would have gone this window or in the summer anyway. This way they got to hang onto him until the end of the season at least.

They are allowed to be kept secret but agents will know about it.

Generally though it will be fairly complex which is why you get different values reported.

I suspect this one might be like the Afobe deal, Wolves report the profit they made by buying from us and immediately selling to Stoke but we report the loan and transfer fee which showed us as net beneficiaries.

Thought he was going to Lyon
Smoke and mirrors !

When you think about the whole saga, his coming to AFCB really only seemed a strong possibility once it was officially announced. Even though, on paper, we seemed like his most probable destination, there was actually more talk of him either staying where he was or going to some other club.

I suspect that we are getting very good at keeping our cards close to our chest in our transfer dealings and possibly also at seeding misinformation.

Just another way in which we are becoming more professional and less tinpot !

They are not going to lose out though are they?....the reported fee doesn't really mean anything.

Hopefully, they will see some benefits. Hopefully, the investment in players will see more youngsters that come through and they benefit from.

Still going to sting when they leave though isn't it?
