Europa League 2026-27

Is anyone else a bit surprised how many of the tickets were sold to 13+ points? Fair play and great to see a committed fan base.

This is only the second in about 100 away games during the PL era where I won’t get a ticket.

People have just gone for it with other people's logins is my guess. Sociedad didn't check so it's a reasonable punt.

First time ever I've tried to get ticket to any game and failed
Im on 10 points, decided early las season to prioritise less on football, more on family and other stuff
Typical that coincided with first time ever in Europe, and those points matter more than ever before
Ah well

I suppose it stands to reason that those of us that do all the mad trips in the season will be more likely to do the mad trips abroad. Shame there aren’t more tickets though.

and what conversations are those sturm graz supporters having about their 600 allocation...?
They should be happy with that.Quick maths suggest their 5% of 11307 is 565.
So its just like PL games where the away allocation is higher than the supposed 10%(c1130) compared to the actual 1350-1400 clubs receive when playing at DC.
All to do with the size of the various blocks around the ground.

what's german for tinpot?
There is no direct single-word German equivalent for the colloquial British football insult "tinpot club," as the exact dismissive slang doesn't map literally.

Closest German Translations & Meanings
Instead of a direct translation, German speakers use descriptive phrases depending on the context of why a club is being called "tinpot" (lack of tradition, small size, or cheap/insignificant status):

  • Schäbiger Verein or minderwertiger Verein: A literal translation of a "shoddy" or "low-quality" club.
  • Provinzverein: A "provincial club"—often used in German football banter to describe a small, local team from a rural or unglamorous area without big-city or traditional elite standing.
  • Dorfverein: A "village club" or literal small-town team, used pejoratively if a club lacks history, stature, or a large fanbase.
  • Plastikklub / Marketingklub: Frequently used in Germany (specifically by traditional fans against clubs like RB Leipzig) for clubs lacking traditional roots and backed heavily by corporate money—capturing a similar disdain to the British use of "tinpot".
