Get in to them...

I thought Andy Carroll should have been sent off yesterday and was surprise motd didn’t show the challenges. Once again the referee was lenient letting go a number of very physical challenges without a card.

This makes it three games in a row that teams seemed to have deliberately tried to rough us up: Watford Everton and now West Ham. Expect it of the former but not the other two sides. Next away game willl be Cardiff who will no doubt employ that tactic.

Is this the new pattern? Real worry that the magic four of king Wilson brooks and Fraser are going to get more injuries.

Does raise the question of whether we need a player like mings in the team to help counter balance the aggression.

They didn't show the Carroll/ Fraser incident on the Sky highlights either. I was thinking along the same lines, it's becoming a trend for the opposition to take turns at fouling our speed machines on or around the halfway line. All we got is Lerma taking it in turns to foul their players : )

they showed it on AFCBTV extended highlights. Carroll deliberately walloped his shoulder/upper arm into Frasers face. He could easily have pulled away but chose not to. he had already led 2 aerial challenges with his trademark forearm elbow smash into our players before that. He should have had 2 yellows.
But, yes, it is a trait that is emerging - rough up Brooks and Fraser. Everton were quite systematic about it - a different player each time to lessen the bookings.

On the point of Carroll, there’s no argument to suggest it was a natural action either because as soon as he had a yellow card, he was quite capable of jumping up and winning the majority of his headers without throwing his elbows about.

Shows it’s a deliberate tactic.

Exactly. Said at the time if he was so innocent he would/should just carry on the same. Obviously he didn’t.

I remember last season we played West Ham and Carroll manged to get booked after about a minute and almost sent off...

Its probably not the Eddie Howe style and its good to see in a way as don't really want to see endless dissent towards officials but Jenas on MOTD 2 said you needed to get into the ref's faces more etc.
