Max-Alain Gradel

Max looked hopelessly out of his depth in this division. top player for us in the past but I can't see him as being anything other than that.

He'd be fine in a 4-5-1/4-3-3 system but you just can't carry him at this level in a flat four midfield.

He is on a season long loan, so no point trying to bring him back in January.

Just seen this from last night.
Should please those who still think he can do a job for us.

Identical to that Brighton goal yesterday.

wow... Great goal...

Broken record I know, but after a year playing football in League 1, he might just be able to fight for a place with us... Is he better than what we've got... I don't think so, but an on-form Gadel is definitely on a par...

Pugh will probably leave unfortunately as he is such a legend for us but Gradel won’t be the replacement.

What's Al's take on this? Perceptive analysis or Grauniad garbage?

Max has been very in and out...Same as for us I suppose.
You just don't know what you are going to get on the day.

To think we were linked with Mubele from Rennes for a while.
He didn't play for a couple of games, moved to Toulouse and looked like he had spent the time off gorging on pain au chocolate with a liberal smearing of nutella.

Poor side Toulouse, but I see a general dropping of standards across the league.
PSG with it's financial clout are sucking the life and excitement out of domestic football.

A very decent French national side I expect to do well in the world cup. In a squad of 22 there might be 7 home based players. That speaks volumes of the standard here.

1.75m quid, Toulouse getting a reasonable deal there although Max isn't as young as he was. Being parroted over Twitter, the Mirror, some French outlets etc. Expected to be offical perhaps tomorrow or Monday.

At least we are getting something for him, plus his no doubt high wages off the books.
Another squad space vacant for new blood as well.

Like Max, had a personal family problems/responsibilities while here on loan as a young man and had to travel back to France to deal with them with the support of our club.

Scored 8 goals for Toulouse in 27 starts.

Good luck Max for the future.
