Jack Wilshere

According to Wikipedia he was at Belgium 4th division side Knokke last season but as their website denies all existence this season I can only assume he has moved on.

Knokke knokke............

Our first marquee signing? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rq5HAOBaYBw

Not sure about marquee Rob, but the Royal Bath and it's casino did well out the deal.

I am guessing if the lad proves his fitness he will start.
But that will mean Eddies dream partnership of Arter and Surman will be broken up,or it will mean a formation change of sorts.
I am guessing Surman as the holding player with Wilshere and Arter as attacking mids, with 2 wingers and one striker.
If we persist with 4-4-2 then will it be Surman for the chop?
And where does this leave Lewis Cook?
It's a conundrum ?

4 - 3 - 3 in a fluid form. Probably actually closer to a 4 - 1 - 4 - 1.

That'd be my guess.

Surman sitting with Cook, Arter and Wilshere filling the other central roles with one on the bench.

I feel for Ake... Committed to us after a very successful season with Watford last year and now falls further down the order, have not really featured as it is...

Wilshire has to start V WBA... probably with another 2 central midfielders either side of him... Who.. I have zero idea...

I was discussing Lewis Cook with someone today and I think we all need to change our mentality. We need 25 players we all think should be first teamers. Lewis cook is there and will get his chance. He's young has plenty of time. Its a very long season and we will need all 25 players as proved last year.

Not having room for high quality players is a good thing!

We'll play the same system but instead of playing a striker deep and looking uncomfortable, we'll have a specialist in that number 10 position.

All our midfielders are neat and tidy deep lying midfielders. We've always lacked that creativity and someone to find a killer pass in the final third.

Wilshere is perfect for us. Finally we have someone to convert our possession football into chances for our pacy forwards.

For Example:

Boruc
Smith Franno Cook Daniels
Cook Arter
Ibe Wilshere King
Wilson

Signing Wilshere is a clear message to others to up their game. Cook is one who can learn a lot and is one for the future. Arter is under pressure, keep your mouth shut and play football. Ake knows he cannot walk into the team. EH has a big job to sort his best team out but what a squad he now has. Let's pray for an injury free season..
Whatever happens EH stock has risen further by astounding the football world at pulling this deal off

I wouldn't class Arter as a deep lying centre mid,he is creative and does get forward, though not enough at times for my liking.
I forsee this

Boruc
Smith Franno Cook Daniels
Surman
Arter Wilshere
Ibe Fraser
King

That looks good. The bench will be strong as well!

Boruc
Wilson Ake Cook Mings/Smith
Cook Arter
Ibe Wilshere Gradel
King

Might not be his best role but Arter definitely plays very deep for us. Next game watch how much time he spends virtually in the LB position.

Sure I know he is covering Daniels forward runs, but he rarely drives forward like in the Championship season. Some of the average position graphics on who scored.com paint an interesting picture of how we set up

Here's one to get all frothy over...
