January Transfer Window 2025

Would have liked the option of bringing him on to see the game out against Chelsea.....Christie was exhausted....which is why he made that clumsy challenge for the free kick.
Fine margins.

Could well have replaced Christie instead of Jebbo against Liverpool too. Jebbo has been alright but Phil is a proven difference maker.

Yes. I think that he would have helped, because as you say, he was managing to help us every game, whenever he was called upon.
But whether his presence would have changed the Chelsea and Liverpool results is very much up in the air.

Ultimately I can understand that the financial aspect and Phil's desire for more minutes ( even if he isn't currently actually getting them ! ) or simply just a change, combined to make us view loaning him out ( with a potential sale at the end of it ) to be the better option.

I suspect that Andoni viewed things differently at the time but ultimately he probably also realised that we shouldn't stand in Phil's way if he was unhappy here ( which seems to have been the case ).

Yeah I think there is a lot of desire among managers to do right by players as far as possible. OK so Phil might have helped us but you ideally don't want to stand in players' way when making these decisions. Look at the Josh King situation, was it really the best decision to say no to Man United? Not sure.

Well we must be back under the radar

Neither Sky nor BBC could manage to mention the deal for Kroupi - when they must have been desperate for something to report "sur le gong".

Mark McAdam where were you?

I’m not sure we’d have been better had Billing played though. Would he materially have changed any of the results in Jan?
I'm a bit concerned that Christie is almost certainly going to be suspended for 2 matches very soon. With Cook covering right back, who else can we play in his position? Tavernier? It's risky without Scott, Smith aor Hill being back from injury.

Still early days but don't think he's played a single minute for Napoli yet. Still, sitting on the bench of the team top of Serie A is definitely an upgrade on doing the same here. I don't think anyone could argue against that.

Oh right they're top now, that's a turnaround from last season when Traore was playing for them. Did Billing have a strop here I wonder, perhaps forced the loan and was let go for dressing room harmony. I think it was nuts to let him go personally but I guess there was an underlying reason.

If he gets a yellow in the FA Cup, does that count as #10?

If not, and he gets one against Southampton, his ban would be Feb 22 and Feb 25, by which time Soler would be back and probably a couple of others.

So where are we ?...I'll tell you...

....we put 11 players from an extensive squad out there to suit each occasion...and they bloody well get on with it representing Boscombe Football...reserves replacing the injured.

.....same as it was albeit with with less players to choose from back in 1925 ...100 f√cking years ago.
Then the support supports who is on the field ! ...End Of.

Scott back second week of Feb. Tavs can play ok there as well as Billing. Smith and Hill also back soon.

I thought it would count, so I was thinking we might rest Christie against Everton, for maximum chance we have him against Southampton and Wolves.

However this, if i read it correctly, suggests otherwise. So we might be ok playing Christie regardless.

Players who receive a total of 10 yellow cards in their side's first 32 matches will be given a two-match suspension. Yellow cards are not carried over to the EFL Cup or FA Cup.

Is always the question of resting his legs of course.

Reading that last sentence very closely, it says to me that a yellow card earned in an EPL match will not create a suspension for a Cup match. It does not exactly say that earning a yellow card in a Cup match won't carry over to an EPL match. It seems like that should be the case, I trust someone at the club knows for sure.

It was a poor window. The reason I say this is that we probably find ourselves in the best position we will ever find ourselves in to qualify for European football, and we end the window weaker than we started it.

We have no fit senior centre forward and probably won’t for another couple of months at least, we lost our back up keeper and a senior attacking option. Our manager even said that we needed a centre forward to come in and he is normally very reserved when answering this kind of question.

If you’re judging the window in terms of future profit generating potential then FranPinto have played a blinder, Kroupi is one of the most talented young players on the planet.

If you’re judging the window in terms of our prospects for the rest of this season then they’ve had a stinker. Unless Evanilson miraculously regains fitness in the next couple of weeks, but even then we are still weaker without Billing and Travers. The way we’ve operated has the feel of a club that has already achieved its objective to be in this league again next season.

I think you need to check your blood pressure, no way evanilson is out for 2 months, look at bowen.
I'm glad we didn't panic sign a few players

I'm fairly relaxed about the window despite the lack of activity. Thank God it happened under Franpinto and not the previous job holder though. Could you imagine how much certain people would bang on endlessly about it?

If you asked Bill whether "this is the best chance we'll ever have of getting in Europe", I would bet his reply would be something along the lines of "No, it's not, wait and see what my plan ends up doing".

We're too emotionally attached as supporters. So far the ownership is delivering on their plan, I'm happy to trust they know what they're doing. What was it he promised "Stanley Cup in 5 years" to Vegas. Final in the first year and won it in year 5 I think it was. Even if they hadn't won the final, to get them there was down to pretty shrewd hockey business.
