Joe Rothwell

Out of interest, assuming what you’ve said is accurate, what is the general feeling in the club regarding this? From the outside it would be perceived that we’ve just accepted that we are going to get relegated immediately and that we don’t want the legacy costs that go with it. Either that or all of the finances have been put towards the training ground? Or Max is looking for a way out. If you are in the know it would be good if you could provide a bit more context behind this, simply having ‘very little to spend’ poses more questions than answers.

if we don't spend millions on a player I don't see that as accepting relegation, more like being realistic and living within our means
if that means facilitating the training ground and ultimately max's exit, so be it
I'd rather the club take that approach than be cavalier with the finances in an attempt to stay up

and if I had some inside knowledge the last thing I'd do is share the source [or it's context, whatever that means] on here

Do we understand who counts towards the 25 squad? U21 not I think, not sure how many of our squad are under 21, not many, hill, killkenny?
So given that presumably we are close to the 25, so some would need to be moved on.
We're going to have to spend a bit on at least 1 CB, whether that's Phillips or someone else. If we did bring another striker in, where does that leave lowe. Maybe a winger as brooks and junior are probably not ready.

by context I was just asking out of interest if he had any info on what the general direction of the club is right now ie is the low budget due to Max trying to facilitate his exit and recoup as much as possible. Was not asking him to post his source, of course he wouldn’t do that.

Idle speculation.

If Forest want to spunk their windfall on over-priced signings, we do not have to follow suit.
I’m not speculating. I’m asking a poster who claims to have inside knowledge whether any of the above to be true. If we have a poster with inside knowledge I’m intrigued to know as much as possible about the direction we are going in and the reasons behind it. No harm in asking him, after all he doesn’t have to answer if he doesn’t wish to.

Personally I think he’s full of it

A week or so ago Alex Crook, who I think is usually quite reliable, suggested we'd be bringing in 4 or 5 more players
no suggestions of who they were or if fees were involved

if that's true then at least it's a sign of some intent to make a fist of it next season

To answer your question i don't know about the training ground or other matters atm.we were discussing a player and I was told money was tight and there wouldn't be to much to spend. Max had the club up for sale but dont know if that still is the case.

Wasn't Pitman sold because he wasn't physical enough for the Prem?

He wasn;t good enough, overall. Part of it is pace, but plenty of average to slow or relatively weak strikers have made it at this level before.

Strength is a bit of a thing of the past anyway, what with diets, resistance training etc, anyone can have that side of their game improved to an acceptable level.

Used to be a trope you'd hear years back. 'He was an incredible player talent wise, just not big/strong enough.' Basically absolute b0ll0cks, at least in this era, as if a player had that much ability, professional coaches could improve that over a year or two. Stick pretty much any adult on a decent weight training routine and diet and they'd go from lifting say 10kg chest dumbells to 30kg in a year. Obiovusly would need a balanced routine, but theres no way that wouldn;t get someone to at least minimum required strength, particularly as overall strength not as important in football compared to something like rugby.

personally I'm not against low spending this season, I am glad the training ground is back on and also I don't begrudge max recouping some of the money he is owed. this time round we have players with PL experience and staff with PL experience if we do get relagated at end of season then in theory we wouldn't have to sell to balance the books. as we have learnt during our last stay in top flight a transfer fee doesn't mean success

One thing we seem to be really lacking from the current starting XI is a dead ball specialist.

Tavernier started well but seemed to get progressively worse over the matches to the point that Lewis Cook was taking corners against Fulham. For free kicks, we know Billing can ping them (or spot a cheeky pass) but he doesn't exactly strike fear into an opponent when he lines one up.

For a team playing low risk attacking football it's actually a crucial part of the game. I wonder if Rothwell is the answer? A quick Google showed up some assists from corners and free kicks for him.

Still not sure where he fits into the team in this system but when he does finally get on, it'll be interesting to see if he immediately takes over dead ball duties.

Just be good for him to be fit and available for selection….both him and Pearson will be required over the season I’m sure

Rothwell is perfect for finding solanke to run into space - will help open up defences

can’t help feel tavernier has lost a bit of confidence on set pieces

Cook put a few brilliant balls into the box from set pieces on Saturday. I was shocked at how decent his delivery was.

I think Dembele should be given a chance, even if it's only a couple of 10/15 mins cameo showings.
Didn't do too bad in past performances.

I think there is more chance of one of us on here getting an appearance before Dembele
